Singapore Street Food Vendor Awarded a Michelin Star

Singapore Street Food Vendor Awarded a Michelin Star Word of mouth and local reviews can be great for a restaurant’s business, but nothing beats the attention that comes with being awarded a Michelin star. But the guide is hardly elitist: This week, word circulated that they had awarded a star to Chan Hon Meng, a street food vendor at the Chinatown Complex in Singapore. From a tiny cubicle in an open-air food court, Meng serves some of the most delicious chicken and noodles around. His trademark dish—chicken slathered in a Hong Kong-style soya sauce—is just $1.50 per plate, the cheapest Michelin-starred meal in the world.

For those who are positively drowning in cash and searching for an inspired opportunity to say I love you, here is a unique dinner date that should fit the absurd bill. CÉ LA VI Singapore and World of Diamonds Group (WOD) are honoring 15 years of their own glamorous partnership with a lavish eight hour dining affair for two- at the price of $2 million. While many have been quick to call this the world’s most expensive dinner date, we did some research to discover that it is unlikely the most a couple has ever dished on dining, although it is certainly a unique and memorable way to get rid of copious amounts of cash.

Woman creates "Blessing Box" to help her neighbors

Woman creates  In the midst of what feels like tragic news at every turn on a national news landscape, a positive light can be found at the corner of East Eighth and South Monroe streets in Muncie. A little more than a week ago, Jeannetta Presley created a "Blessing Box" and placed it near the end of her front yard. The small black cabinet, resting on a piece of wood and a cinder block, is stocked with non-perishable food items and basic toiletries. The outside is decorated with masking tape, reading "take what you need, bring what you can." Contents of the box include dry pasta, sugar, peanut butter, baby formula, diapers and shampoo.

16 times the price of a bachelor’s degree at Oxford, a bachelor/ette’s dinner at CÉ LA VI does not leave anyone better equipped to improve the world, though the evening is selective as well as pricey. “The enchanting experience will only be sold to a qualified individual – at the discretion of both WORLD OF DIAMONDS Group and CÉ LA VI” says CÉ LA VI management.

Are GlaxoSmithKline plc and GW Pharmaceuticals plc simply too expensive?

Are GlaxoSmithKline plc and GW Pharmaceuticals plc simply too expensive? How much should you pay for GlaxoSmithKline plc (LON:GSK) and GW Pharmaceuticals plc (LON:GWP)?Today, I’m looking at whether FTSE 100 pharma giant GlaxoSmithKline(LSE: GSK) and AIM-listed cannabis products specialist GW Pharmaceuticals(LSE: GWP) are simply too expensive.

Chances are that this is not the most a dinner date has ever cost. Arnaud’s Creole food in New Orleans charges $9.85 million for a luxury Strawberries Arnaud (Their normal one costs $9). Do not start sweating because the dessert comes with a “complimentary” cocktail including Cristal Champagne and edible 24-carat gold leaf flakes. It also comes with a 10.06-carat diamond royal blue engagement ring. Arnaud’s Crab Cakes go for a more reasonable $31.95, meaning those who opt to dine with their proposal spend well over the illustrious 2 million dollar dinner date.

Not to be entirely upstaged, Singapore’s date comes with a blue diamond ring, too. “The Jane Seymour” is lauded as the world’s only celebrity ring that is not pre-owned, whatever this signifies. A rare 2.08-carat Vivid Blue diamond ring, the Bond-babe attributed jewel quite appropriately represents the action-packed occasion that comes with it.

Lady Gaga enjoys dinner with Ray Liotta

Lady Gaga enjoys dinner with Ray Liotta Lady Gaga recently reunited with her Sin City: A Dame To Kill For co-star Ray Liotta for a friendly dinner date in New York City. The newly-single pop superstar, 30, was spotted with Liotta, 61, enjoying a private meal at Italian restaurant L'Artusi, but the outing was far from intimate, as her father, Joe Germanotta, Jr., was also present for the occasion. "They looked super chummy and like they know each other well," an onlooker told the New York Post's Page Six of Gaga and Liotta's reunion, two years after starring together in the Sin City sequel. However, Gaga's representative made it clear the dinner was strictly platonic, stating to the tabloid, "Ray is friends with Stefani (Gaga) and her dad." The Born This Way hitmaker has been surrounding herself with friends and family of late after calling off her engagement to her actor beau Taylor Kinney last month (Jul16). Gaga recently celebrated the baptism of her childhood friend and fellow musician Brian Newman's daughter Sistilia, to whom she was appointed godmother, and joined Tony Bennett last week (03Aug16) to help him ring in his 90th birthday in New York. The singer, who had been dating Kinney, 35, for five years, took to Instagram to confirm reports of their split in late July (16), but insisted they both wanted to try and work things out. Alongside a snap of the couple, Gaga wrote: "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. "We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other.

You might already have heard that the $2 million dinner date invokes James-Bond style intrigue. Tempting a lover with ‘earth and sea’ dining may have meant wagyu rib-eye with lobster tail in the past, but this soirée for two takes to the air, land, and sea for adventure, not withstanding the fine food. Looking to fly to new heights of your relationship? Maybe a 45-minute helicopter journey will do the trick. This is only foreplay on a date that rolls out the Rolls-Royce (chauffered, of course), followed by a private cruise. Sparks are likely to fly, too- literally because there will be fireworks over the harbor.

Alternatively, the world’s most expensive flight called The Residence is a ‘penthouse in the sky’ that costs $38,000 for a one-way flight for one or two people. It comes complete with a butler and other luxuries like a customisable in-flight menu. Say somebody really wants to impress their date and flies into Geneva they can stay at the world’s most expensive actual penthouse at Hotel President Wilson for $83,200. If they are polite enough to fly their date back home the morning after, they still have over $1.5k left, however, if they want to compete for the world’s most expensive dinner date.

Those looking to stay slim in their wedding dresses may appreciate the world’s most expensive meal replacement as a testament to love: $60k for 750 ml. of water in a 24-carat gold bottle inspired by the work of Italian artist Amadeo Clemente Modigliani. This one is a Guinness-World Record holder.

Of course, love is free and the world’s most expensive divorces all cost far more than 2 million dollars; Donald Trump lost nearly $25 million to Ivana while Mel Gibson paid roughly $425 million in his split from former wife, Robyn. Even if it’s not the world’s most expensive dinner date, and even if it does not lead to a lifetime of bliss, the evening at CÉ LA VI in Singapore does have unique cultural finesse as it comes with diamond-encrusted personally monogrammed chopsticks, and that seems like something to last forever, which you really will not find anywhere else.
