CHICAGO — At 9 years old, Jahkil Jackson is helping his community take care of those in need.

It all started the day his aunt took him to feed the homeless. Jackson was saddened when he saw how the homeless lived.

“They didn’t have items to start or end their day,” say Jackson.

So he and his mother took action, creating the non-profit, iAMNaeem

Jackson puts together “Blessing Bags” which he hands out to the homeless community.  The bags are filled with toothbrushes, socks, soap, deodorant — everyday items a person needs.

Fifth Harmony and DNCE recording charity single to help the homeless

Fifth Harmony and DNCE recording charity single to help the homeless Fifth Harmony, DNCE, Hailee Steinfeld, and Rita Ora are teaming up to record a cover of festive favourite Santa Claus Is Coming to Town to help the homeless. The singers, who are all taking part in the annual iHeartRadio Jingle Ball concerts across America, will also be joined by Charlie Puth, Tinashe, and Daya for the charity single, and they will come together to perform the tune for the first time at the star-studded Jingle Ball concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Friday night (09Dec16). According to People.com, all proceeds from the song's release will benefit the Robin Hood non-profit to help the homeless in the Big Apple this winter. Officials on the Robin Hood Board will also match all funds raised up to $100,000 (£79,500). "The homeless in New York City and across the country are hardest hit during the holiday season and its incredible to see that once again musicians and artists have stepped up to help those less fortunate," John Sykes, President of Entertainment Enterprises at iHeartMedia, says in a statement. "iHeartMedia is committed to using all of our powerful assets - radio, digital, video, live events and social - in the spirit of giving back to the needy during the holidays." The Madison Square Garden leg of the Jingle Ball shows will also feature performances from Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and One Direction star Niall Horan. Meghan Trainor had to cancel her scheduled appearance on upcoming Jingle Ball dates, including the New York stop, due to illness. She took to Instagram on Thursday (08Dec16) to reveal she had been placed on vocal rest for the next two weeks, forcing her to axe her remaining 2016 gigs.

He disburses the bags from the back of his godfather’s pickup truck. He’s on the ground, meeting the homeless community face-to-face while handing out bags. Jackson’s mother says he always takes charge during these trips, proving to be a strong leader at such a young age.

“In a perfect world, I would buy every homeless person a house," Jackson says. "But since I can’t do that, I will try to help as much as I can.”

Since starting his non-profit, he’s distributed almost 2,000 Blessing Bags. Jackson’s goal for the end of 2017 is to distribute 5,000 bags.

You can do it! We’re rooting for you!

The family fed more than 100 people, they said. Armani Crews, 6, only had one wish for her birthday, and it was to give back to those less fortunate in her city. Armani’s mother, Artesha Smith-Crews, said her daughter had been consistently asking to feed the homeless, so when Crews asked Armani what she wanted for her 6th birthday, her answer was the same. “She had been asking us, but we thought she was just talking,” Crews told InsideEdition.com. “Her dad said, ‘If we do this, I am not buying you a birthday gift.’ She said, 'That’s okay.’ That’s when we knew she was serious.
