Are all yogurts and cheese equivalent for health? No, far from it !, believes Dr. Réginald Allouche, doctor and biomedical engineer, author of "The anti-diabetes method" (ed. Flammarion) and "The hepato-detox method" (ed. Albin Michel). According to this specialist, products made from cow's milk often do much more harm than good.

What are the differences between cow's milk and goat's or sheep's milk?

DR REGINALD ALLOUCHE. Cow's milk is generally less fat than sheep's or goat's milk, but I do not recommend it because feeding cattle has become a real problem. In fact, 90% of cows are now raised in barns and fed with soybean, corn or sunflower meal. But these cereals are rich in omega-6 fatty acids that encourage inflammation and promote weight gain.

Are goat's and sheep's milk products healthier?

Goats and sheep graze on grass in summer and hay in winter, foods that are naturally well supplied with omega-3s. To be in good health, we recommend consuming one omega-3 for every five omega-6. The French are very far from this goal, because they absorb on average one omega-3 for eighteen omega-6! To restore the right balance, the balance is therefore tilted in favor of goat's and sheep's milk. In addition, cow's milk contains long-chain fatty acids which are more difficult to digest than those found in sheep and goat milk. These long-chain fatty acids also bind more easily to arteries already irritated by tobacco and alcohol, resulting in an increased risk of atherosclerosis. Finally, cow's milk contains more hormones and growth factors that may in some cases promote the development of diabetes and obesity. It is therefore not to be recommended. We are in fact genetically programmed to be pastoralists, not cowherds.

What form of dairy to choose?

Better to opt for plain yogurts and cheeses, in particular white cheeses with 20% fat. After childhood, drinking milk as it is is not recommended. Milk is often difficult to digest for adults.
