Norwich want to bring in the defender to strengthen their side ahead of a promotion push for next season. Timm Klose and Russell Martin are the only other central defenders at the club, with Martin named as club captain for another season earlier this month. Union Berlin defender Toni Leistner wants a move to England this summer, according to Berlin Sport.

Norwich head coach Daniel Farke wants Leistner at the club before the end of the summer, to improve his defence.

The report claims that Leistner is angling for a move from Germany to England, despite Berlin insisting that he will not leave the club.

It has been claimed that Norwich are keen on signing the central defender this summer, with a bid of €3.5m having been lodged earlier this summer.

That offer was rejected, but Berlin Sport say that Norwich are likely to return with an improved offer before the end of the transfer window.

Norwich announced the signing of Marcel Franke from Furth last Friday, who was rumoured as a replacement for Leistner at Berlin if he were to leave.

Leistner has one year left on his current deal with Berlin, which could also tempt them in to selling the defender.

He is 26-years-old and has been with Berlin since 2014, racking up 74 league appearances in that time.
