Oliver Burke promises excitement to West Brom fans

Oliver Burke promises excitement to West Brom fans West Brom winger Oliver Burke has promised the Baggies faithful excitement and vows to get them ‘off their seats’ when he’s back on the pitch, the Express and Star report. Tony Pulis’ side haven’t won in the Premier League in seven matches, a run which has seen them fall to just two points above the relegation zone, and are in desperate need to stop the rot. Since joining the Baggies from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the summer for £15 million, Burke has endured a frustrating two months at the Hawthorns, with a hamstring injury limiting the Scotsman to just two substitute appearances. However, Pulis will welcome the news that Burke is set to resume full training this week and may be in contention for a place in the match day squad this weekend as they play host to table-toppers, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Talking to the media, Burke said: “I am a very attacking player. I like to get forward and take my man on, that is the kind of player I am. I want to get fans off their seats. I am a team player too and that is why I am at West Brom. It’s a very together team and we work as a unit and work hard. I am very happy to be here and I can’t wait to get to get out there and help the team.

West Ham defender Jose Fonte has vowed to return fitter and stronger after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury on Monday.

New West Ham boss David Moyes, who took over on a short-term contract on Tuesday, will be without Fonte until the New Year with the defender expected to be ruled out for between two to three months.

Fonte, who suffered the injury in the recent 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace, is remaining upbeat and wants to return as soon as possible in the New Year.

The Portugal defender told the club's website: "Obviously I'm disappointed and frustrated because it was an unnecessary tackle (which caused the injury).

"That's part of football and now it's time to focus on returning after the surgery on Monday and having a good recovery so I can be back as soon as possible.

"Now I've had the surgery, I will have to wear a cast for two weeks, then a boot for two weeks and finally a brace for two weeks, so that's six weeks. Then after that it's getting back my fitness levels.

"I'm not scared of working hard, so I'll put the hard work in. We have great physios and great doctors at the club, so we'll be working hard together to be back stronger and fresher."
