Barcelona need to sell five players in order to sign Coutinho

Barcelona need to sell five players in order to sign Coutinho Barcelona may need to sell at least five players during the January window if they want to sign Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho. The Daily Mail reports that Barcelona’s wage bill is currently too high to accommodate the potential arrival of the Brazilian in January. According to the report, El Mundo Deportivo columnist Miguel Rico highlighted the problems that Barcelona are facing. “If Barcelona don’t bring the wage bill down from the 84 per cent mark, they cannot sign Coutinho even if Liverpool let him leave for free.” After being linked with a move to the Nou Camp throughout the summer, Barcelona are interested in a January move after failing to agree a deal in the previous window. Players such as Arda Turan, Thomas Vermaelen, Aleix Vidal and striker Paco Alcacer are all no longer needed at the club, but the Catalan side are struggling to offload them. One-time Liverpool target Andre Gomes is also being linked with a move away from the Nou Camp. The Portuguese international has attracted interest from Juventus, Tottenham and West Ham in the past.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Besiktas full-back Dusko Tosic , according to reports from Turkey. However, it does come as something of a surprise given the depth Spurs have at full-back, to see Turkish news outlet Fanatik cite the North London outfit with interest in Tosic .

Tosic , who can operate at either left-back or centre-back, made just five appearances in an injury hit loan spell at QPR in 2010 following an impressive World Cup with Serbia. Besiktas Dusko Tosic Tottenham .

Klopp promised all the money if Liverpool sell Coutinho

Klopp promised all the money if Liverpool sell Coutinho The Liverpool board have promised Jurgen Klopp every penny from the potential sale of Philippe Coutinho, should the Brazilian leave the club in January. The Mirror reports that the Reds manager will be able to reinvest the money into the current squad if Barcelona do come back in for the player. The Catalan side were heavily linked with a move for Coutinho throughout the summer and are believed to be preparing another bid in time for the January transfer window. Reports have suggested that Barcelona are willing to pay somewhere in the region of £130 million for the Brazilian, which would give Klopp plenty of money to improve his squad. Should Coutinho move on in January it is believed that Liverpool will reignite their own interest in Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in an attempt to solve their defensive issues. Liverpool were without Coutinho for the 3-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday, but he could return for the midweek meeting against Maribor.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale. The former Spurs winger has been strongly tipped to leave the Bernabeu this summer and Diario Gol has claimed the Gunners have made their interest known to Madrid. Jordi Alba indicates he does not want to join Tottenham .

Spurs don’t have an abundance of experienced players in the ranks but are blessed with quality defensive options, perhaps suggesting that this report from Fanatik is wide of the mark.

Tosic is predominantly a left-back, but also has the capacity to operate in central defence if required.

The defender is contracted to Besiktas until the summer of 2019.
