  Klopp not planning to rush Nathaniel Clyne back Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists he is in no rush to hurry Nathaniel Clyne back into his side due to the form of the club’s youngsters. As per the Liverpool Echo, Klopp is said to be delighted with the form of both Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who have both stepped in for the England international. “Joe and Trent have done really well. They have improved a lot, both of them in different games. That’s why we don’t have to put pressure on (Clyne) in this situation.” Clyne is getting closer to a return to fitness after a back injury has kept him out of the opening stages of the season, but is still believed to be some way off a first-team return. The defender, who was ever-present for Liverpool in the Premier League last season is yet to feature for the Reds so far in this campaign. Alexander-Arnold has made the headlines on several occasions this season after some exceptional performances, while Gomez, who was linked with several loan moves away from the club, has also impressed when given the chance.

It looks as though Nathaniel Clyne’s injury torment is set to continue for some more months.

According to reliable Merseyside journalist Paul Joyce, the England international is set to be sidelined until February having undergone surgery on his recurring back issues.

Clyne is yet to play this season and has been suffering with the back problem for some time now.

It was thought that Clyne was nearing a return in recent weeks, but the news of his surgery presents yet another setback to the former Southampton man, who will have missed out on the majority of the 2017/18 campaign.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed Trent Alexander-Arnold’s display against Southampton. The young full-back performed well as the Reds swept aside Saints in a comprehensive 3-0 win. A brace from Mohamed Salah and a second-half strike from Philippe Coutinho handed Liverpool a routine victory, with a welcome clean sheet earned by the defence. Klopp, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo, was full of praise for his young defender, who performed well on the right. “He is another type of defender. When he started he was a proper winger and sometimes a defender. Now he’s a proper defender and sometimes a winger. It makes much more sense in his position. He was really good today.” The Liverpool boss also believes that Alexander-Arnold’s performance against Southampton was the best of his Liverpool career so far. “It was probably his best performance over 90 minutes in defending. What he can do offensively everybody already knows.” Alexander-Arnold has come on leaps and bounds following his emergence last season and has taken his chances when they have come to him. Nathaniel Clyne’s long-term back injury has presented him with a golden opportunity to kick on this season and the youngster is certainly grasping it with both hands. The young defender will now hope to feature when Liverpool visit Sevilla on Tuesday in the Champions League.
