Wilfried Zaha will be relishing the chance to haunt Brighton once again when Crystal Palace face an away trip down the M23 to face their bitter rivals Brighton on Tuesday.

Brighton sit 11 places above the Eagles at the moment, but that won’t matter one bit in a game that is sure to be a feisty encounter. Crystal Palace have massively improved under the reign of Roy Hodgson and he will be looking to deliver an early Christmas present to the Palace fans with a win over the Sussex outfit.

Wilfried Zaha has been phenomenal for Palace in recent games and it will be no surprise if he continues his red-hot form in the derby. It has been even between the two sides when they have met at the AMEX Stadium. Crystal Palace gained a very special win back in May 2013 with Zaha securing a brace in the Championship play-off semi-final 2nd leg. This was after Brighton had comfortably beaten the Eagles 3-0 a few months previous in March.

Steve Parish regrets selling Glenn Murray

Steve Parish regrets selling Glenn Murray Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has said that he regrets selling Glenn Murray and listening to former managers’ opinions about the former Palace forward. The Eagles are playing their bitter rivals Brighton next Tuesday and it is likely that Murray will feature against his former employers. Murray was a fan favourite in South London after his amazing run of form in the 2012/13 season helped the Eagles get back to the Premier League via the play-offs. His success was that much sweeter at Palace as he was signed on a free from their rivals Brighton. After two years in the Premier League with Palace, the 34-year-old striker was sold to Bournemouth when Palace were under Alan Pardew and he is now back in the South Coast. Murray is proving his doubters wrong, scoring four goals in four games for the Seagulls since securing a brace against West Ham. Parish, as quoted in the Croydon Advertiser said: “The fact that Glenn is not at this club is a massive regret for me. We made a mistake, simple as that. He did have a cruciate injury and I was told by managers he wasn’t good enough and that he wouldn’t make it. In the Premier League, he didn’t do this and he didn’t do that.” Crystal Palace have had bad luck with strikers recently, having only one registered first team striker available to them in Christian Benteke. They will have to wait several games until Connor Wickham is ready to return for the Eagles.

Both sides had contrasting results on Saturday, with Crystal Palace scoring a last-gasp winner against Stoke City to win 2-1, securing only their second win of the season. Palace came from behind to beat the Potters after Xherdan Shaqiri scored the opener. Brighton lost narrowly to Manchester United 1-0 with Ashley Young grabbing the winner in the 66th minute when his effort on goal took a huge deflection off Lewis Dunk.

Team News

Yohan Cabaye will be a doubt after picking up a knee injury against Stoke City on Saturday. Connor Wickham remains out for the Eagles with a knee injury and Chung-Yong Lee is also out with an ankle knock.

Glenn Murray will be available to play against his former club Crystal Palace and he is likely to start on Tuesday. Steve Sidwell won’t feature for the Seagulls as he is still recovering from a back injury and Beram Kayal is a doubt with a leg injury.

Hodgson feels vindicated after Niasse diving ban

Hodgson feels vindicated after Niasse diving ban Roy Hodgson says he feels vindicated by the two-match ban handed to Oumar Niasse, but admits that it does nothing to aid Palace’s cause. Niasse became the first player in Premier League history to be retrospectively punished for deceiving a match official through simulation, as judged by a panel, under new Football Association rules introduced in May. The Senegalese striker won a controversial penalty which would see Everton equalise through Leighton Baines after James McCarthur put Palace in front in the first 50 seconds, and despite Everton expressing outrage at the decision to ban Niasse, their appeal was rejection. Niasse would go on to score his side’s second equaliser to further frustrate Palace. Talking about the ban, Hodgson said; “We thought it wasn’t a penalty because he had dived and I suppose I’m grateful to have been shown that my judgement isn’t as bad as all that when it comes to these matters.” “I respect the decision (The FA) have made but it doesn’t help us a great deal because it would have been nicer if the penalty hadn’t been given.” “But it was given, we lost points as a result of it and the FA have seen fit to punish him because obviously they don’t want it to happen to other teams.” “My only satisfaction is that The FA and the people who make those decisions have sided with me rather than the player.

Prediction

Brighton are unbeaten in five games at home this season and Crystal Palace will have to do extremely well to end that run. Brighton’s goals this season has been heavily influenced by star winger Anthony Knockaert, who has been brilliant so far this season.

Glenn Murray has also hit amazing form for Brighton, scoring four goals in five games. He will be very hard to mark out of the game and Palace’s defence will have to be hot on their heels if they are to stop their former striker from scoring.

Both sides have players that can cause the opposition trouble and Brighton will be relishing this opportunity to get revenge on Palace for that play-off defeat. With Zaha and Murray in fine form for either side, I think this will be a score draw.

Palace announce £100m stadium redevelopment plans .
Crystal Palace have confirmed plans to redevelop Selhurst Park that will see the capacity surpass 34,000. The London Evening Standard reports that the plans will cost in the region of £100 million and the Eagles will not have to move out of the stadium while work is taking place. Steve Parish eventually wants to see Selhurst Park hold 40,000 and these latest plans are the next step towards that ambition. Work is due to start over the course of the next 12 months with formal planning permission application set to go ahead next month. The new-look main stand has been designed by the same architect who helped design the latest developments at Anfield. Palace have been desperate to improve their stadium ever since their promotion to the top flight but have been seeking extra investment to make it possible. Now it is down to Roy Hodgson, who must ensure that the new-look Selhurst Park will see Premier League football in it by keeping them afloat this season.
