Celtic will look to secure European football in match day six as Anderlecht make the trip west for the Champions League group stage clash in Glasgow.

Brendan Rodgers will be looking for his side to secure their place in the Europa League last-32 after Christmas for the first time since 2015, and will do so unless they lose by three goals or more.

The Hoops won two of their three consecutive games against Motherwell within the space of six days – including a 5-1 win on Saturday – and now sit seven points clear of second with a game in hand.

McGregor believes Celtic will show quality against Anderlecht

McGregor believes Celtic will show quality against Anderlecht Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has revealed that he believes the UEFA Champions League group stage fixture against Anderlecht will show them how strong they are and whether they can compete in the Europa League, according to a report on BBC Sport. Celtic will play in the Europa League if they avoid a three-goal defeat to the Belgian club. The Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers has come under criticism after being hammered by European giants Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich. However, McGregor believes that the match against Anderlecht will give an indication of their progress in Europe. “We’re obviously looking forward to it. The boys have recovered well over the weekend and we’ve prepared properly.” “We need to go and stamp our authority on the game tomorrow night and not just sit back and defend that three goal lead.” “We just have to go out and play our own game and I think that’s where we’ve been at our best.” The midfielder has also conceded that PSG and Bayern are at a different level to the Scottish champions and that Celtic may be more suited to the Europa League, where the likes of Arsenal compete. “We’ve been drawn in another tough group and I think when the draw was made everybody looked at the two Anderlecht games as being the deciding ones if we were going to progress to European football after Christmas.” “So we’ve put ourselves in a great position to do that and hopefully we can finish the job.” However, Celtic will be expecting a tough test from Anderlecht.
