Liverpool won't give up on Emre Can contract negotiations

Liverpool won't give up on Emre Can contract negotiations Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the Merseyside club will keep trying until the end of the season to get midfielder Emre Can to agree a new and improved contract with the club, according to a report on the Liverpool Echo. The German midfielder has unable to agree terms for a new contract with the Premier League club and has since been linked with a move to top European clubs such as Bayern Munich and Juventus. The 23-year-old is a crucial part of the Liverpool squad and manager Klopp wants him to stay with the club for the foreseeable future. However, if both parties can’t strike an agreement by the end of the season then Can will be available to leave the Anfield club on a free transfer. Klopp said: “I said he could still sign a contract in May. That’s how it is. Persuade him? That’s what we try to do all the time.” “We have to be as attractive as possible as a club so no-one wants to leave. That’s not changed.” The German is doubtful to play this weekend against Chelsea at Anfield after suffering a muscle injury in the 3-3 draw against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League this week.

It is well reported that Can is out of contract at Anfield in the summer, as he wishes to have a release clause in his contract, which Jurgen Klopp is reluctant on putting in.

This means that the German international will be allowed to talk to clubs over a potential free move in the summer within the next few weeks, as soon as the January transfer window opens.

It is also well reported that Juventus have been strongly linked with him, and will try to get him on a free transfer. However, it looks like another Italian giant may come in to give the Old Lady some competition.

Emre Can will formally complete a move from Liverpool to Juventus after Saturday’s Champions League final, with the Germany midfielder poised to sign a five-year contract with the Italian club.

Inter Milan are now reportedly interested in the 23-year-old and will talk to Can and his agent at the turn of the year.

However, he may see his sights elsewhere, with Manchester City and Pep Guardiola also looking fondly at Can, just 40 miles down the M62.

There are still over three weeks to go until the window opens and Can is allowed to hold talks with other clubs, so maybe other clubs will become interested in him. Or maybe Klopp will give him what he wants in his contract to keep him in Merseyside.

Liverpool target De Vrij unsure over new Lazio contract .
Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij has been linked with a move to Liverpool for a short while now. The rumours first properly began in the summer, as the Reds were linked with a plethora of alternatives to top target Virgil van Dijk, including Juventus defender Benedikt Howedes. However, recent claims were made that De Vrij was closing in on signing a new deal with Lazio, putting a stop to speculation surrounding his future in Italy. This doesn’t seem to be the case, though, with Football Italia quoting him as admitting that he is in the dark with regards to what will happen with his contract negotiations at Lazio. “I always try to improve and I’ll do the same in 2018. As for the contract renewal, I don’t know what’s going to happen.” De Vrij has been mightily impressive in Serie A this season and has played a big role in Simone Inzaghi’s side’s impressive campaign to date. The Dutch international is being courted by a number of top clubs, though, so Liverpool will have to act fast on their interest if they are to land him. Manchester United, Juventus and Inter Milan have all been linked.
