Brighton to make bid for Moussa Dembele

Brighton to make bid for Moussa Dembele Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly seen Celtic’s Moussa Dembele as their number one transfer target in January, as per the Daily Mail. Brighton are in need of more goals, scoring just 14 so far this campaign, with no side above the Seagulls scoring fewer than that. Chris Hughton was said to have been after Tottenham Hotspur’s Vincent Janssen in the summer to lead the front line. However, he has gone on loan from Spurs to Fenerbahce for the season. Strikers for Brighton include Glenn Murray, who is Albion’s top scorer with five and Tomer Hemed, who is struggling for minutes under his belt in the English top flight. Brighton broke their transfer record to capture Jose Izquierdo from Club Brugge in the summer for £13.5m, but the Dembele deal would see them break that record again. Hughton is reportedly going to offer Brendan Rodgers £20m for the young Frenchman, but Celtic value him at £30m, so the fee is yet to be agreed. Dembele this season, although hit by injury, has still been providing the Hoops with goals, netting two braces in four days at Pittodrie and Easter Road. He also scored in the recent League Cup Final win over Motherwell and the early opener in Paris, so Brighton would certainly be getting a goalscorer. However, whether Dembele goes in January or not is another matter. The 21-year-old has his whole career ahead of him, but it is to be seen if the wanted man will remain in Glasgow.

Sofien Moussa scored twice from the spot to give Dundee a vital three points with a 3-0 win over relegation rivals Partick Thistle at Dens Park.

The two sides were just a point apart going into the game, with Thistle hoping to climb off the foot of the Ladbrokes Premiership table for the first time in almost a month.

A win over Motherwell during the week had closed the gap, but it was opened up once again following a comfortable win for Dundee.

It proved a torrid afternoon for Thistle skipper Daniel Devine, who conceded two penalties for Moussa to net his first goals since September while Mark O'Hara was also on target in a convincing performance.

Race for Dembele hots up as Fiorentina enter the fray

Race for Dembele hots up as Fiorentina enter the fray According to reports in Italian outlet La Nazione, Serie A side Fiorentina are the latest side to show an interest in Hoops striker Moussa Dembele, the Daily Record report. Dembele is fast becoming one of Europe’s most talked about youngsters, with Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan all reportedly monitoring the 21-year old’s situation. Reports are now suggesting that Fiorentina have also joined the race for the French youngster, and are preparing an offer for the upcoming January window, along with Premier League side Brighton who are also preparing a bid, believed to be in the region of £20 million. The striker has found the back of the net eight times this season in 16 appearances, during an injury-hit campaign so far. With so much interest in the young forward, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers faces a huge task next month to try and persuade Dembele to remain at Celtic Park for the rest of the season.

Home manager Neil McCann made his feelings clear after a poor performance during the week that led to defeat at Hearts, and he got the reaction he was after from his players in a positive start.

After almost scoring an early own goal, Devine was tempted into lunging at Moussa inside the area as the hosts broke, and the striker went over before picking himself up and sending the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Thistle did not look like forcing their way back into the contest, and they were two down just after the half-hour mark following a well worked Dundee move.

Moussa held the ball up well to play in Faissal El Bakhtaoui down the left, and the wide man hit a dangerous ball across the area which Ajay Leitch-Smith could not convert following a superb save from Tomas Cerny - but the ball came out to O'Hara who took a touch and finished well from close-range.

Only then did the visitors begin to pose a threat to the Dee goal, and some of it was self-inflicted as Cammy Kerr failed to deal with a cross and allowed Ryan Edwards a shot which was well blocked, while Miles Storey had two tame efforts.

Alan Archibald made changes at the break but could not affect the game as Dundee controlled the game before grabbing the third goal following a moment Devine will quickly want to forget.

The defender slipped on the edge of his area to give the ball away and while trying to make up for the error brought down Kerr to allow Moussa a second goal from the spot.

O'Hara nearly made it four as he broke from right to left, running across the area before firing a fine effort towards the top corner - only for Cerny to get a strong hand at full stretch as Dundee coasted through the second half to climb out of the bottom two.
