House of Fraser boss Frank Slevin has been appointed as British Cycling's new independent chairman, the national governing body has announced.

Slevin, who will continue to be the retail giant's executive chair, replaces Jonathan Browning, who chose not to stand for re-election last year.

Browning's decision followed a bruising 18 months for the Manchester-based organisation after it was the subject of bullying allegations and an UK Anti-Doping investigation.

Those crises have led to a significant overhaul in personnel at British Cycling, which has appointed a new chief executive, performance director, head of medicine and several new coaches and directors in the last 12 months.
