Man Utd agree £4m deal for Johnstone sale to West Brom

Man Utd agree £4m deal for Johnstone sale to West Brom According to IBTimes, Manchester United have agreed on a £4m deal for the sale of Sam Johnstone to West Brom. The 24-year-old shot-stopper is on a season-long loan at Villa Park but the chiefs at Old Trafford have an option to terminate that agreement in the January window. The recall clause is set to be activated with West Brom striking the deal. Johnstone has impressed this season keeping nine clean sheets in 24 Championship games. He has spent his entire career at Manchester United and is currently in his tenth loan spell since graduating to the senior team in 2011. Johnstone has never made a competitive appearance for the Red Devils and it is unlikely that he will get a chance at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho with David De Gea being the star keeper at the club. West Brom’s deal will frustrate the Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce, who was hoping to seal a permanent transfer for Johnstone. “We will do everything in our power to get him here permanently,” he said. “He is going to find it difficult at United to break through because of what they have got so we are hopeful.” Former West Brom manager Tony Pulis was the first to spark an interest in Johnstone but current manager Alan Pardew has been given the green light to sign the keeper. Johnstone will have to battle with Ben Foster for a starting spot in the West Brom team. Aston Villa’s most famous fan Prince William has ordered the club to seal the United man on a permanent deal. “William is a big Villa fan and knew a lot,” Bruce said. “He was pleading with me to get Sam Johnstone tied up and make his deal permanent. We’re pretty fortunate to have him as one of our big supporters.

It has been reported in the The Birmingham Mail that Villa are interested in signing Middlesborough midfielder Adam Clayton.

Villa will face competition to gain the midfielders signature with Leeds, Cardiff and Forest all reportedly interested in bringing the midfielder in to achieve their pre-season goals.

Forest may have the upper hand in the competition to sign the midfielder, with his former boss Aitor Karanka recently being appointed manger after the dismissal of Mark Warburton. It is reported that the Spaniard would like a reunion with Clayton who was an important piece in the Middlesborough side that achieved promotion during his reign.

Can Scott Hogan be Villa's goalscoring solution?

Can Scott Hogan be Villa's goalscoring solution? Scott Hogan signed for Villa in January 2017 for around £9.5 million and has struggled to hit the goalscoring hight’s that he hit during his time at Brentford, since swapping Griffin Park for Villa Park. Hogan scored 21 league goals in 33 appearances for Brentford and his scintillating form had Premier League suitors West Ham sniffing around, but since he made his move to Villa he hasn’t come close to a return of that level. The striker has had a rough start to life at Villa, suffering from a malleolar injury in February that kept him out until the middle of July as well as picking up a few other knocks. To add insult to those injuries when Hogan has been fit and playing he hasn’t fit into the system that Bruce has deployed in his Villa team. Hogan could be the answer to Villa’s striker problems this season if he was used correctly. He showed at Brentford that if he is given good service he will score. Instead of lumping the ball up long Villa could play it along the ground and play the ball to Hogan’s feet or in behind the defence for him to run onto. Villa have shown they can play effectively this way with Hogan in the side in their 5-0 new years day destruction of Bristol City. Steve Bruce believes that the reasons for Hogan’s goalscoring woes are due to the expectations of playing for a bigger club.

Leeds United are interested in Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton who left the Whites back in 2012. Leeds United and Aston Villa are both said to be interested in signing Adam Clayton .

Leeds may also be able to sway Clayton as he spent two seasons on loan at Elland Road and manager Thomas Christiansen may use this to his advantage. However, the bookies have tipped Cardiff as the favourites to sign Clayton as Neil Warnock looks to bolster his promotion chasing Bluebirds.

Clayton had been somewhat exiled at Middlesborough during Gary Monk’s brief spell as manager this season but the appointment of Tony Pulis as the new Boro boss could see him brought back into the first team frame. Villa are said to be monitoring this situation but may need to sell a player to free up the funds if they are to make a move to sign Clayton permanently due to Financial Fair Play regulations.

Interest in Alan Hutton is gathering pace

Interest in Alan Hutton is gathering pace Aston Villa right back Alan Hutton is out of contract at Villa Park in the summer and interest in his services is building. The Birmingham Mail reports that newly appointed Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis is interested in a potential move for the player nicknamed the “Scottish Cafu” by the Villa faithful. They have also reported that Scottish side Aberdeen are also interested. Hutton has been at Villa for over six seasons. He has made over 150 appearances as well as having three loan spells away from Villa park at Nottingham Forrest, Bolton and Spanish side Mallorca. Hutton has been in and out of the Villa squad under different Villa managers but, since the appointment of Steve Bruce, he has become an integral member of the squad. He has been mostly deployed at right back but has successfully filled in at left back when he has been called upon. Hutton split opinions amongst the Villa faithful over the past few seasons but his recent performances have seen many fans join the Hutton fan club. There is a lot of competition for places at right back in this current Villa side with Alan Hutton, Ahmed Elmohamady, Ritchie De Laet and James Bree all fighting for a first team place. If the rumours of Hutton leaving Villa are true, it would make sense for the club to try and offload him in January where they can still command a fee for him. With Aston Villa being blessed with great depth at right back they wouldn’t necessarily need to bring in a direct replacement for him which could see him used to free up funds for investment elsewhere on the pitch.

Adam Charles Clayton (born 13 March 1960) is a British-Irish musician, best known as the bass guitarist of the rock band U2. He has resided in County Dublin since the time his family moved to Malahide when he was five years old in 1965.

Villa already have a vast amount of players in Clayton’s position – the likes of Mile Jedinak, Glenn Whelan, Conor Hourihane, Henri Lansbury, Birkir Bjarnason and Spurs loanee Josh Onomah. Clayton’s addition to this Villa side would most likely see the departure of at least one of these players and if not, significantly reduced game time for Villa’s current midfielders.

However, Clayton’s addition to the squad would provide more promotion experience to help Villa achieve their goals of regaining their place in the Premier League. With Villa also rumoured to be looking at a possible loan move for versatile Leicester City midfielder Daniel Amartey, it looks like Bruce is keen to bring in some midfield reinforcements.

Adam Levine feared he would soil himself during daughter's birth .
Adam Levine feared he would soil himself while his wife Behati Prinsloo was giving birth to their first child because he desperately needed to use the bathroom. The Maroon 5 frontman is expecting his second child with the Victoria's Secret model later this year, and he will know what to do in preparation for the birth the second time around after learning from his mistakes when his daughter Dusty Rose was born in September 2016. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night (18Jan18), Adam revealed that he had received advice from talk show host Carson Daly, who warned him to eat before heading to the hospital as many expectant fathers faint in the delivery room. Adam took his suggestion too seriously and gorged himself on food beforehand, but it ended up leaving him in serious pain. "We finally go to the hospital, I've put back an unbelievable amount of food. I'm like basically bursting at the seams, I'm gonna s**t my pants at some point," he said. "Also, my wife is in labour and it's the lamest thing to be when your wife is going to be having a baby and you're like, 'I got to take a s**t.' That's not, in any way, a viable complaint. "So, you got to keep it inside, literally and figuratively. I was like, 'S**t, I'm just gonna wait this out.' I couldn't go to the bathroom and come back and the baby's out and I missed the whole thing. It was brutal.
