Rodgers insists he must improve squad this window .
Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Celtic must improve the squad this January transfer window to remain strong domestically and perform better continentally, according to The Scotsman. One story this January transfer window that has been surrounding Celtic Park is the story of Moussa Dembele, who, as Rogers revealed, has had on formal transfer offer turned down for him, with him being linked with a move to English Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace. The latest club linked with the young Frenchman is AS Roma, who are likely to sell Edin Dzeko to Chelsea along with left-back Emerson Palmieri in a reported £44m move. Rodgers is also looking to bring in more players to add competition, with Marvin Compper and Lewis Morgan being the only incomings this winter, with the latter returning to St Mirren on loan. Speaking to the media, Rodgers said (via The Scotsman): “We don’t want to sell him (Dembele). Simple as that. We’ve had one bid that’s come in and it’s way under his value to us. But the message is – we don’t want to sell.” “For me, we have to strengthen.” “I’m very happy with the group of players that I have. We’ll also have some returning from injury who will make us stronger again. But we wanted to bring in players in this window who would add quality. Sometimes that takes a wee bit of time.” So Rodgers is keen to improve, and it may be that Hoops fans may see some new faces arrive in the East End of Glasgow according to Rodgers.
