Erik Sviatchenko set to complete January exit

Erik Sviatchenko set to complete January exit Brendan Rodgers has admitted that there could be several ins and several outs at Celtic during the January transfer window and it seems like there are going to be some outgoings first to make way for new arrivals. After a deal for Red Bull Leipzig’s Marvin Compper was finalised for a reported £1m, the writing was on the wall for Erik Sviatchenko who has been on the outside looking in at Celtic this season and it appears as if the Denmark international will be leaving the club this month. The 26-year-old made two appearances in the Champions League qualifiers back in the summer but hasn’t featured for the Bhoys since early August. After two years at the club, it’s likely that Sviatchenko will be leaving the club and the Daily Record state that he is set to subject to a £1.5m bid from FC Copenhagen in a move that would see him return to his homeland, however, Premier League side Southampton have also contacted the defender regarding a move.

Celtic accuse SFA of jeopardising the club's Champions League hopes .
Celtic Football Club have admitted that they are unhappy with the Scottish Football Association after they decided to schedule friendly matches for Scotland, away to Peru and Mexico, in late May and early June, as per s report in the Scotsman. As it stands, Celtic’s season could finish on May 19th, if they reach the Scottish Cup final as expected, and as such, the club’s Scottish internationals would only get about a week’s break before they had to fly to South America. A revamp of the Champions League qualification period means that Celtic could face an additional round of qualifiers, which means that there will be very little time for the likes of Leigh Griffiths and Kieran Tierney to rest between the end of the current campaign and the start of the next. Celtic’s chief executive Peter Lawwell will contact the SFA to express the club’s unhappiness at the scheduling, whilst Scotland’s Professional Footballers’ Association are said to back the club as they are concerned at how little rest players are getting between seasons.
