Our man of the match: Millwall (H)

Our man of the match: Millwall (H) Norwich City returned to winning ways at home as they beat Millwall 2-1 at Carrow Road on Monday. The Canaries have now picked up seven points from a possible nine as they look to close the gap on the play-off places. Eight points now separates Norwich and sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship table. It was not all cheer for Norwich, though, as they were greeted by a chorus of boos at half-time. Steve Morison scored a volley from 30-yards seconds before the end of the half to put Millwall 1-0 up. Norwich turned it around in the second-half as they produced a superb 45 minutes to win the game. Tom Trybull levelled the scores when he guided a cross from James Maddison into the far corner, his first league goal for Norwich. Maddison then won the game for Norwich with 15 minutes to go as Alex Pritchard slipped him and through and the young Englishman slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Picking a man of the match has been difficult, with so many great performers against Millwall. Jamal Lewis, Alex Pritchard, Josh Murphy and James Maddison all deserve mentions. But our Norwich man of the match against Millwall is… Tom Trybull! The German midfielder scored his first league goal for the club to cap of a superb midfield display. He was constantly on the move looking for the ball and always retained possession. His passing was accurate, quick and forward thinking. Trybull made a number of important interceptions and tackles in midfield to break up play as well, to prove how well rounded he is as a midfielder.

Liverpool agree €55m deal for Riyad Mahrez

Liverpool agree €55m deal for Riyad Mahrez Liverpool have agreed a fee of €55m (roughly £48.7m) with Leicester City for Riyad Mahrez, according to a report from beIN SPORTS in France. The Algerian, according to the report, will have a medical with the Reds tomorrow ahead of the move. Earlier today, it was reported by the Press Association that Liverpool were not interested in Mahrez and that they’d even contacted The Foxes to let them know that reports of their interest were wide of the mark. However, beIN seem to think differently and are reporting that the former PFA Player’s Player of the Year will indeed make a switch to Anfield as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho who is set to become a Barcelona player in a £142m deal.
