Daniel Abt topped the second free practice in Marrakesh ahead of team-mate Lucas di Grassi in foggy conditions.

The final practice session of the Marrakesh ePrix got underway at 10:30am local time, with a light fog looming over the circuit as the cars began to head out onto the track. Television commentators Jack Nicholls and Dario Franchitti reported visibility issues from their commentary box within minutes of the session’s beginning.

Lucas di Grassi set the benchmark in the early stages, with the Audi driver putting in a time of 1m22.006, just over two and a half seconds slower than his time set earlier in the day.

Fittipaldi says that he has taken an interest to FE since the series first tested at Donington, saying, “I am really looking forward to driving the car and with Jaguar’s heritage in racing it is a very special privilege.

The reigning champion’s time was beaten almost immediately by Antonio Felix da Costa, who set a 1m21.260 lap-time.

Venturi was plagued with issues at the start of the session, claiming to have a problem with its software with all four cars. However they were quick to rectify this, not losing too much practice time.

Felix Rosenqvist had a lock-up five minutes into the session, going down an escape road and bringing out the yellow flags, but he was able to spin the car back around to continue.

Da Costa also had a nasty moment which could have brought his session to an early end, as the MS Amlin Andretti driver almost lost the rear end of the car, but he managed to catch it at the last second and remained on track.

Jaguar’s Nelson Piquet Jr had a brush with the barrier, which resulted in him losing his right rear wheel cover soon after.

As the session progressed the fog became much heavier, with drivers complaining of visibility issues and foggy visors.

The session ended with Abt topping the session, taking first place from his team-mate di Grassi in the closing stages, leaving the Brazilian to complete an Audi top two. Sébastien Buemi ended up third overall for Renault e.Dams, with the Mitch Evans and Piquet Jr showing great pace as they finished fourth and fifth respectively.
