Pirelli has revealed the driver’s first tyre selections of the year for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix later this month.

The Italian tyre manufacturer will bring the purple-walled ultra-soft tyre, red marked super-soft tyre and – the hardest compound on offer – the soft tyre to Melbourne.

The majority of the 2018 grid has favoured the choice of the softest compound available, with reigning champions Mercedes, Williams and McLaren opting for nine sets of ultra-soft tyres.

Ferrari has taken a more conservative approach with drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen taking three sets of soft tyres and two less sets of ultra-softs than its closest rivals.
