Everton target Benfica midfielder Rafa Silva

Everton target Benfica midfielder Rafa Silva Everton are chasing after yet another midfielder in Benfica’s Rafa Silva, according to Portuguese sources. Despite Everton seemingly having an abundance of central midfielders at the club as it is, you can never have enough – at least that’s the case if you believe the latest transfer rumour. Portuguese outlet A Bola claim that the Toffees are considering a move for Portugal international Rafa Silva, and are prepared to pay £26.5million to complete the deal. Given Gylfi Sigurdsson’s inconsistency this season, Wayne Rooney’s preference to play deeper, and Davy Klasseen’s complete failure to impress, Everton are looking for more attacking options from midfield to give them further goalscoring threats. Able to play anywhere behind the striker, Silva would give the Toffees another option, but would do nothing to keep the club’s extortionate expenditure down. If Everton are to move for Silva, it is expected that players will need to be moved on to make room in the squad. Muhamed Bešić, who is currently on loan with Middlesbrough, has an uncertain future on Merseyside, while Klaassen is also on thin ice. Morgan Schneiderlin has also been linked with a summer switch, having so far endured a nightmare campaign of controversy and rotten form.

Everton are interested in making a move for Arsenal and England forward Danny Welbeck this summer . Welbeck went to the World Cup with England this summer , but was only able to feature off the bench against Belgium.

Everton are reportedly ready to take advantage of Jack Wilshere’s contract negotiations taking longer than expected by making a move for the England midfielder, according to The Daily Mail.

Negotiations between Arsenal and Wilshere over a contract extension began in December but there has been no conclusion to this saga at this stage.

It is believed that Arsenal want to make Wilshere take a pay cut, which the player isn’t keen on, although he does wish to stay at the club.

Everton are said to be willing to offer £80,000 per week to Wilshere in order to tempt him into a move to Merseyside.

With the main contract-related stories at Arsenal focusing on Alexis Sanchez, who left for Manchester United, and Mesut Ozil who has since signed an extension at the Emirates, Wilshere has gone under the radar and he will become a free agent in the summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal at Arsenal, leaving Everton free to make a move.

It is believed that Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan are also keen on Wilshere, but he wishes to stay in England.

Everton in pole position to sign Wilshere .
Everton are reportedly in pole position to sign Jack Wilshere, if the midfielder leaves Arsenal this Summer. According to the Daily Star, Sam Allardyce and Everton are the favourites to snap up Wilshere if he is to leave the Emirates Stadium this Summer. The England midfielder is a free agent this Summer, with talks with Arsenal reportedly stalling over appearance payments, which isn’t helped by his terrible injury record. Wilshere has made 28 appearances for Arsenal this season, in just over five months since recovering from another setback. The midfielder would love to stay at the Emirates, where Wilshere has played for the majority of his injury-hit career. However, if the Gunners can’t offer a better deal, it looks like Wilshere could be moving elsewhere. Wilshere suffered another injury last week, causing him to miss out on international duty with England. However, Gareth Southgate did confirm that it was not a serious injury and that Wilshere should be back soon.
