Man Utd join Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham in race to sign 7-goal midfielder valued at £20m

Man Utd join Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham in race to sign 7-goal midfielder valued at £20m Arsenal’s midfield has been criticised for being too weak in recent seasons and the potential addition of Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford would go a long way towards rectifying that. Doucoure himself recently hinted that a summer transfer was on the cards amid interest from the Gunners but after an impressive season with Watford, a number of top six clubs are eyeing a summer swoop for the Frenchman. Reports suggest that Manchester United have joined the race to sign Doucoure and had scouts watch him in action during Watford’s recent win over West Brom. Manchester United are set to lose both Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini in the summer and will be short of bodies in midfield, with Doucoure targeted as a potential recruit. Despite playing primarily as a robust, all-action midfielder, the 25-year-old has chipped in with seven goals and three assists in the Premier League as the Hornets hope for a top half finish this campaign. Both Tottenham and Liverpool are also interested in signing Doucoure who is valued at £20m by Watford.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has admitted that it was an easy decision to sign a new contract at the club earlier in the year according to SI.com.

The playmaker was heavy linked with a move away from the Emirates in January but he instead quashed those rumours by signing a new long term deal at the club.

The German’s contract was set to come to and end this summer but unlike team mate Alexis Sanchez he choose to commit his long term future to the club. Sanchez eventually signed for Manchester United, who were also keen on recruiting Ozil.

Arsenal midfielder pens new long-term contract Arsenal have confirmed that midfielder Mohamed Elneny has put pen to paper on a new deal. The midfielder’s old contract expired in 2020 but the new deal will see him tied down until 2022. The 25-year-old had been linked with moves away from the club in January after making only seven starts in the Premier League this season. The Egyptian has seen most of his game time come in cup competitions, making eight starts in the Europa League. Both Leicester City and West Ham were linked with a move for the midfielder in January but a deal did not materialise. Despite signing a new deal, it is yet to be seen whether or not Elneny’s future remains at the Emirates beyond the end of the season. The player joined Arsenal back in 2016 from Swiss side Basel and has gone on to make 65 appearances in all competitions.
