Wenger is confident Ramsey will sign a new deal

Wenger is confident Ramsey will sign a new deal Arsene Wenger is confident that midfielder Aaron Ramsey will sign a new deal with the club, labelling him an important player for the future of Arsenal – however he hinted that they aren’t any closer to a deal just yet. Ramsey has around 18 months left on his current contract with the club, and while talks are ongoing about extending it, there has not been any sign of a breakthrough just yet. This could be because Arsenal are having to prioritise that of Jack Wilshere’s new deal, given that his current contract expires this summer. Speculation had suggested that Ramsey could be willing to let his contract run down, but Wenger has poured cold water on this, suggesting that a deal will likely be struck. Speaking after the Welshman scored a brace to fire Arsenal to a 4-1 first leg lead over CSKA Moscow in the Europa League, Wenger said; “Yes, I’m confident. He’s not at the end of his contract, he has one and a half years to go. We are communicating.” “On my side that is clear [that he should stay]. But you have always to find agreements. We want him to stay because he’s one of the guys who has been here for a long time and will be an important player in the future for the club.” “We do not want to convince [someone to stay], we want the players to be happy to play for the club, and the players who want to stay here and play for the club [do so because of] the way we play football and with the values we think are important for us.” “And with the right amount of money we want to pay them. All the three have to be together.
