Arsenal step up their interest in Barcelona star

Arsenal step up their interest in Barcelona star Arsenal are stepping up their interest in Barcelona youngster Robert Navarro, according to a report in The Mail. The 15-year-old has been offered a contract with the Catalan giants, which he could sign when he turns 16, but Arsenal are hoping to poach him away, like they did with Cesc Fabregas in the early 2000’s. Manchester City were also interested in Navarro but it appears like they have decided not to pursue a deal, meaning the teenager will now have a straight choice between the Gunners or Barcelona. Navarro turns 16 on April 12th, so in two days time, he will be able to officially put pen to paper on a professional contract with a club, and the Gunners are hoping that he’ll choose them. Whilst Barcelona’s academy is famous for it’s youth development, plenty of current professionals have decided to move on from the Catalan club at a young age and have succeeded elsewhere, so Navarro does have a difficult choice to make.

Arsenal will face yet more competition in the race to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax this summer as Barcelona express an interest in a double deal.

Reports in Spain from Mundo Deportivo claim that the Catalan giants are interested in a swoop for both de Ligt and his Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong.

De Ligt is already being touted as a target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs following another impressive season in the Eredivisie.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are all said to be interested and have had scouts watching the player recently.

West Ham eyeing summer move for Gomes

West Ham eyeing summer move for Gomes West Ham are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes in the summer. According to The Mirror, West Ham and Tottenham are both keen on snapping up the central midfielder when the transfer window reopens in a few months time. Gomes is expected to head to the World Cup in Russia this summer with Portugal, where he could attract more interest if he is able to impress. West Ham were touted with interest in Gomes during the January window, but signed Joao Mario on loan from Inter Milan instead. Gomes has struggled to make his mark on the first-team at Barcelona and is open to a move to the Premier League. The 24-year-old has played 28 games for Barcelona this season in all competitions, after 47 appearances last season. He has been capped 29 times by his country and was a key part of their European Championships success in 2016. There is no mention of how much Barcelona would want for the Portuguese international.

The La Liga leaders are looking to drastically reduce the age in their squad ahead of the new season.

The report claims that both players are aware of interest from Barcelona and will now weigh up whether or not the move has come at the right time for them in their respective careers.

Arsenal confident of beating Chelsea to Spaniard .
Arsenal are confident of beating Chelsea to former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, according to Bleacher Report. The Gunners are said to be confident of landing Enrique ahead of their Premier League rivals should both clubs go in for him in the summer. Arsenal confirmed last week that Arsene Wenger would be leaving the club at the end of the season after 22 years in charge and the search for his successor is already underway. After a poor season for Chelsea sees them looking set to finish fifth in the league and miss out on a Champions League spot, rumours are rife that Antonio Conte will not be in the Chelsea dugout next season. With reports suggesting that both clubs will be making a move for Enrique in the summer,Arsenal and Chelsea could look set for a tug of war over his services. However John Cross of the Daily Mirror believes that Arsenal could have the edge in securing the Spaniard with Arsenal having appointed Barcelona’s former Director of Football, Raul Sanllehi, as the club’s Head of Football Relations back in January. Cross believes the only stumbling block for Arsenal could be his £15million a year wage demands. During his time at Barcelona Enrique guided the Catalan giants to the UEFA Champions League trophy, two La Liga titles and three Copa del Rey titles.
