Technical Director Nick Hammond to leave Albion

Technical Director Nick Hammond to leave Albion West Brom have announced that Technical Director Nick Hammond will be leaving the club, amid plans for a restructure of the club’s backroom staff. Hammond was only in the job for two years but was heavily criticised during his tenure. The former Technical Director played a key role in the hiring of Alan Pardew, with many criticising the move to appoint the former Crystal Palace and Newcastle boss. Hammond also played a part in Albion’s disaster of a transfer window in the Summer, when the club splurged over £40 million on players who have really failed to deliver. This follow’s sackings in February, where chief executive Martin Goodman and chairman John Williams were sacked by Albion’s Chinese owner Gouchan Lai. In a statement, Albion Chief Executive Officer Mark Jenkins said: “We would like to place on record our gratitude for Nick’s efforts during his two years in the role and wish him every success for his future.” The outgoing Nick Hammond also said: “West Bromwich Albion are a great football club which I was honoured to be a part of, great people, great supporters. I wish them every success going forward as I move on to future projects.

According to the Daily Post, PSV technical director Marcel Brands has spoken about his future at PSV and rumours about joining Everton.

PSV secured the Dutch Eredivise title at the weekend after a 3-0 win against rivals Ajax and Brands spoke about the rumours of him joining Everton during the aftermath of the victory.

Everton’s summer transfer window last season was a huge disappointment for everyone involved with Everton, after spending a lot of money with no real return, which ended in many Everton fans wanting current Director of Football, Steve Walsh out of the club.

Everton keen to make big move for agent ahead of next season

Everton keen to make big move for agent ahead of next season Farhad Moshiri is hoping to recruit football agent Mino Raiola in a plan to help Everton break into the heights of English football, according to the Mirror. The club are already claimed to have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven over a deal to bring Marcel Brands to the club as the new sporting director and Moshiri now looking at the possibility of bringing Raiola in alongside him. Sam Allardyce, too, is set to depart Goodison Park with the club’s owners not impressed with the direction the former England manager is taking them in. He still has 12 months left on his deal but, with the club some way off the European qualifying spots in the Premier League, they are prepared to sack Allardyce at the end of the season. The club’s director of football Steve Walsh is also set to leave the club at the end of the current season as they plan a massive shake-up behind the scenes.

“I have a contract at PSV. There is interest but is it hard to leave this beautiful place.”

He added by talking about the game against Ajax

“I have hardly ever been so nervous before. That does not happen often, but today I did. It’s a special feeling, I hope nobody has noticed how nervous I was.”

“Early in the morning I went out running. When we clinched the title at the end of the 2015/16 campaign, I just felt we would be crowned champions on the day. But this time I doubted if we would be successful.”

“I thought we would win the title eventually but I wanted it to be today, in front of a bumper crowd. It can’t get any better than this.”

Brands’ quotes suggests that he loves PSV, which shows how hard it would be for Everton to take him away from the Dutch side.
