  Arsenal and Barcelona fighting for Bayer Leverkusen star Arsenal and Barcelona are battling to sign Panagiotis Retsos from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, according to reports. The Greek international has been in impressive form for club and country this season and it seems his efforts have not gone unnoticed, with the Gunners being linked with a move. Retsos, who made a name for himself during his time at Olympiakos, has been dubbed as one of the Bundesliga’s most promising young talents and it seems the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona are keen to swoop for the 19-year-old. In the Bundesliga this season, Retsos has made a total of 14 starts so far and has also made six substitute appearances. He has impressed during this time, displaying composure at the back for the German outfit. Arsenal will undoubtedly be out to bolster their defensive options in the summer but if they are serious about moving for Retsos, they’ll need to fend off competition from Ernesto Valverde’s high-flying Barca side.

According to the ESPN’s Stefan Buczko, Arsenal Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat watched from the stands as Schalke beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0.

Mislintat attending this game has led many rumours as to who Arsenal are looking to sign in the summer transfer window.

In the previous transfer window, they signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, as well as Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United, who used to play for Dortmund, so they are familiar with what sort of players could be signed from the Bundesliga. Sead Kolasinac also signed from the opposition, Schalke.

According to reports, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are all tracking the 21-year-old defender and are all are said to be considering summer bids to prise him away from his Bundesliga employers. Soyuncu began his early career in Turkey and made a name for himself with second-tier side Altinordu before completing a £2.4m move to Freiburg in the summer of 2016. Over the last two seasons, he’s made over 50 appearances for the Bundesliga side and has broken into the Turkish national team in the process It’s believed that Freiburg have no interest in selling the young defender but if an offer in the region of €30m is put forward for Soyuncu then their hands may be tied and he could well leave. Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked with a move for him.

However, Mislintat is a Dortmund fan, so all rumours could all be untrue!

FroHe could’ve been looking at Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann as Arsenal look to replace Cech, or maybe former Spurs player, Nabil Bentaleb, as they look to improve on Granit Xhaka, who has come in for a lot of criticism recently.

From Dortmund, he could’ve been looking at the other goalkeeper in Roman Burki, as well as Sokratis Papastathopoulos, as the Gunners look for defensive reinforcements.

Marco Reus has been linked to the Gunners in the past too.
