The Blue Jays' game Monday against the Royals in Toronto is being threatened by ice blowing off the roof of CN Tower on the Rogers Centre, the Kansas City Star reported.

The game, scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, could become the rare contest in a dome to be postponed because of weather.

Josh Donaldson injury update: Blue Jays 3B placed on 10-day DL with bum shoulder Donaldson has DH'd in five of the 12 games he's played this season. He's batting .239 with three home runs and nine RBIs.

The Jays, with CN Tower and Toronto Police, said they were assessing conditions around the stadium, presumably trying to determine whether ice from the tower could conceivably endanger fans making their way into Rogers Centre or had caused structural damage to the dome that will make the surface unplayable.

Falling ice forced Toronto police on Monday to close CN Tower, according to the Toronto Star, which added that falling ice caused a hole in the Rogers Centre's retractable roof above right field, and that snow was on the playing field inside.

The story is only the latest in an odd April in which 22 games, including Monday's Patriots Day game in Boston between the Orioles and Red Sox, have been postponed in the young season, the most in April — with two weeks to go in the month — since 26 were postponed in 2007, USA Today noted.

The Royals' home game Sunday against the Angels also was postponed because of weather.
