Everton target close to signing new deal with Besiktas

Everton target close to signing new deal with Besiktas Everton target Oguzhan Ozyakup is reportedly close to putting pen to paper on a new contract with Besiktas. The Turkey international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League ahead of the summer transfer window as his existing deal nears its expiration. However, according to Fotomac, Ozyakup is close to agreeing new and improved terms with the Super Lig side, casting doubt over a summer move away. Everton were said to be leading the race for Ozyakup, therefore this news may come as a big blow for the Toffees as they bid to wrap up much of their business in the summer quickly. However, Besiktas could yet lose Ozyakup in the summer, as Fotomac claim that a rather cheap release clause will be inserted in the midfielder’s new contract at the club. It’s claimed in the report that a release clause worth just €12 million will feature, which is without doubt an affordable figure for most Premier League sides.

Newcastle United are reportedly scouting Turkey international Okay Yokuslu.

According to a report from Turkish-Football, the Magpies sent scouts to watch the midfielder in Trabzonspor’s clash with Osmanlispor on Monday night.

Yokuslu has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now, with the likes of West Ham and West Brom having been linked. However, it seems Newcastle have a fresh interest in the player ahead of the summer.

The Magpies are now able to begin their preparations for next season, with the club having effectively secured their safety in the Premier League in recent times.

Newcastle could be keen to bolster their midfield options and Yokuslu is seemingly a player on their radar, with scouts keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old.

Yokuslu is predominantly a midfielder but has been utilised as a central defender in recent weeks by Trabzonspor. The Turkish international’s versatility could be of interest to potential suitors like Newcastle.

Benitez hails striker following Everton defeat .
Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has spoken of his happiness with Islam Slimani’s performance against Everton on Monday. The Algerian international has endured a difficult start to life in Newcastle following his January loan move from Leicester but has returned to fitness in recent weeks. Slimani led the line for Newcastle as they were defeated 1-0 by the Toffees at Goodison Park. Theo Walcott’s second-half effort was enough to separate the two sides. Benitez, as quoted by Goal, was quizzed on his feelings about the experienced striker’s display at Everton following the match and spoke of his happiness with the new man’s efforts. “Islam worked hard. The understanding between him and the rest of the team will take some time. In terms of effort, I was happy with him.” Slimani was handed his first start for Newcastle in the game on Monday and will be desperate to string together a run of starts as the 2017/18 campaign draws to a close.
