Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is close to returning from his oblique injury, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Yelich, who was acquired by Milwaukee from the Marlins this offseason, has been out of action since April 5. He was batting .385 with a home run and five RBIs before hitting the shelf.

The 26-year-old outfielder could have returned to action Sunday, but the Brewers wanted to get him closer to 100 percent before throwing him back out there.

Yelich will now require two or three days of full baseball activities without setback before he returns to the Brewers. The report said that should be within the next couple days.

The Brewers are just 8-8 this season, tied with the Cubs for third in the National League Central, so Yelich's bat and glove will be welcomed additions.
