Southampton have poked fun at the hotel that cancelled their stay ahead of the meeting with Swansea City by providing a one-star review of their services.

The club were forced to move to the Vale Resort hotel near Cardiff after the Swansea Marriott reportedly told them they could not honour their booking due to the outbreak of a virus.

Manager Mark Hughes was scathing of the venue, which continued to take public bookings after Saints relocated, and later suggested mischievous Swansea fans could have been behind the confusion.

Southampton line up summer move for Tom Rogic

Southampton line up summer move for Tom Rogic Southampton are planning a summer bid for Celtic’s Tom Rogic, according to the Daily Record. The 25-year-old has had an impressive season during Celtic’s seventh consecutive title-winning campaign, including four goals in four games against Glasgow rivals Rangers. Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers conceded this week that they may have to lose the attacking midfielder in the next window. Rodgers said: “Tom is a brilliant player, but you have to respect that a player’s career is short. I don’t think he is questioning the club, I don’t think he is questioning anything here. It’s just a life decision, really… There’s nothing sinister in it. He’ll take his time and I’ll always support players whatever their decisions are.” Rogic is out of contract next summer, and if he is to have a successful World Cup with Australia, he could have plenty of potential suitors. Southampton have done plenty of business with Celtic in the past, and seem to have a good relationship with the Glasgow-based side, however, the deal could be subject to Saints remaining in the Premier League next season as Rogic will not want to be playing Championship football. As the Australian hasn’t put pen to paper on a new deal, Celtic will need to decide if they want to cash in whilst they have the chance to, or to keep him and potentially let Rogic leave for free next summer.

Hotel general manager Michael Downie defended the decision, which did not ultimately cost the visitors, as they claimed a 1-0 win at the Liberty Stadium to put them on the brink of Premier League survival.

Saints have had the last laugh, too, by sharing a screenshot of their review of the Marriott on TripAdvisor.

The one-star assessment, titled 'Last-minute cancellation' was tweeted from the club's official account but not posted on the review website.

"Had been due to stay here for an extremely important business trip, only to have our reservation cancelled 24 hours before arrival, due to apparent virus outbreak," the review read.

"Very disappointing, as other guests' bookings seemed to be unaffected.

"The inconvenience meant we had to make alternative arrangements for our group at short notice. Ended up switching to the Vale Resort. Not an ideal location for our needs – much longer trip to get to our meeting – but great staff and facilities there and would highly recommend.

"Fortunately, the experience didn't sour our trip. Business meeting was extremely productive!

"Not planning to return any time soon."

Clasie admits his Southampton future is unclear .
Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie says his immediate future with the Premier League club is unclear following his loan spell with Club Brugge. Clasie explained the uncertainty surrounding his future to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, as cited by Sport Witness: “ In principle I return to Southampton. My contract runs for another two years. I will talk to my wife and my agent about what we are going to do next season. It is still open for me now.” The Dutch midfielder’s time on loan with Brugge has been far from straightforward. He has been unable to hold down a regular place in the side, even during the play-off period. A lack of regular minutes while on loan has cast further doubt that his future may not be with Brugge. “ ” The player will return to the Saints over the summer, but how much playing time will the struggling midfielder get? Consistent game time at either club does not look guaranteed for the player. Clasie joined Southampton from Feyenoord back in 2015 for a fee of £8 million, which the Saints will be keen to recoup if they do sell him this summer.
