Everton eye €30m summer swoop for international midfielder

Everton eye €30m summer swoop for international midfielder Everton reportedly head the queue for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho. Portuguese newspaper A Bola (via Sport Witness) claim that the Toffees have made Carvalho a key transfer target this summer and are likely to make an approach soon. Carvalho was the subject of a much publicised falling out between Sporting and West Ham last summer, with the Portuguese side claiming no bid was made for the player and the Hammers disagreeing. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder has made 35 appearances across all competitions for Sporting this season, scoring once and also providing an assist. Carvalho has a €45m release clause in his contract, but the club’s hierarchy would reportedly listen to offers of around €30m. With the future of manager Sam Allardyce still in question, it remains to be seen whether the club will move for Carvalho, with the English transfer window opening later this month. The midfielder would provide competition for the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Morgan Schneiderlin, Tom Davies and Wayne Rooney. West Ham could also go back in for the player, although relations between the two clubs could still be slightly frosty after the very public war of words.

Everton are interested in signing Donis Avdijaj from FC Schalke 04 this summer, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The Bundesliga side are claimed to be ready to cut their losses with the Kosovo international, who has failed to live up to his early potential during his days in the youth system.

Avdijaj is only 21-years-old at the moment but it appears as though Schalke have lost patience with the player and are willing to allow him to seek pastures new.

The attacking midfielder could be available for a fee as low as £2.5 million, which is certainly an affordable sum for Everton and other potential suitors, such as Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United.

Avdijaj has only one year remaining on his current deal at Schalke, with Domenico Tedesco’s side now looking to cash in on the player following his lack of development in recent seasons.

Schalke finished the Bundesliga in 2nd place and evidently deem the midfielder surplus to their requirements going forward.

Everton to battle Arsenal for Uruguay international .
Sampdoria star Lucas Torreira is reportedly a target for Everton this summer. According to claims from Calciomercato, as cited by talkSPORT, the Uruguayan international is set to be hot property among potential suitors in the coming weeks. Torreira enjoyed yet another good season in Sampdoria colours and a move to the Premier League could well be on the cards this summer, as Everton continue to be linked. The Toffees are understood to have scouted Torreira throughout the course of last season, with preparations being made ahead of the recently-opened transfer window. Signing Torreira is likely to be tricky for Everton given the number of teams interested in the midfielder, however, it will certainly be an affordable acquisition if reports are to be believed. It’s stated that Torreira’s current deal at Sampdoria entails a release clause worth just £22 million, which is comfortably an affordable fee for Everton. They may face competition from Arsenal, though, with the Gunners linked with a swoop for Torreira following his exploits in Italy throughout the course of his recent seasons.
