Newcastle star wants assurances before he commits his future to the club

Newcastle star wants assurances before he commits his future to the club Newcastle United stopper Karl Darlow wants assurances over his playing time before committing to a new contract, according to the Chronicle. The Magpies are currently in talks with Darlow as they want to extend his current deal, despite the 27-year-old being second choice for the majority of this season. Rafa Benitez is keen to keep the Englishman in his ranks, as well as sign current number one Martin Dubravka on a permanent deal. The former Forest man has two years remaining on his current deal and is likely to attract interest from Championship clubs after he helped Newcastle win the league so impressively last season. Dubravka has been in very good form signing joining in January, and if he is to sign a permanent contract in the North East, it would be difficult for Benitez to give Darlow the assurances he wants. Furthermore, Rob Elliot is another keeper in the Newcastle ranks fighting for that number one jersey, meaning Darlow cannot even be guaranteed to be second choice next season.

Newcastle are joined by Everton and Huddersfield Town in their apparent interest in Avdijaj. He was penned back by Newcastle and was therefore unable to test them offensively, as they also put in a tough tackling regime on the Brazilian whenever he collected the ball.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are among a host of clubs to have expressed an interest in signing Kosovo international Donis Avdijaj.

FC Schalke 04 are claimed to be ready to cut their losses with the playmaker, who has failed to live up to his early potential during his days in the youth system.

Avdijaj is only 21-years-old at the moment but it appears as though Schalke have lost patience with the player and are willing to allow him to seek pastures new.

The attacking midfielder could be available for a fee as low as £2.5 million, which is certainly an affordable sum for Newcastle.

Avdijaj has only one year remaining on his current deal at Schalke, with Domenico Tedesco’s side now looking to cash in on the player following his lack of development in recent seasons.

Schalke finished the Bundesliga in 2nd place and evidently deem the midfielder surplus to their requirements going forward.

Newcastle are joined by Everton and Huddersfield Town in their apparent interest in Avdijaj.

Newcastle complete signing of Dubravka .
Newcastle have officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from Sparta Prague. Twitter: IT’S DONE! We’re delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Martin Dúbravka from @ACSparta_EN! Full story:… https://t.co/KGPLWphsPE (@NUFC) The deal has been expected over the past week with Newcastle exercising their option to sign him permanently after his loan spell at the club. The Slovakian international joined on loan in January and made the number one position his own over the course of his five months at the club. Newcastle struggled with a consistent number one goalkeeper over the past few seasons and now look set to have that position secured for the coming years. Dubravka will now be looking to continue his form from last season onto next and impress yet again to further his international career ahead of a potential European Championship campaign in 2020.
