Gianluigi Buffon adds fuel to the Liverpool rumours

Gianluigi Buffon adds fuel to the Liverpool rumours Gianluigi Buffon said today, in his exit speech, that he has ‘interesting proposals’ which adds further fuel to the rumours that the Italian may be on his way to Anfield, according to the Daily Mirror. The Juventus captain announced on Thursday morning that he would be leaving Turin at the end of the season after 17 years at the club. At 40 years of age, most people would have assumed the Italian international would ready to retire, but that may not be the case. Buffon said: “Until a few a days ago, I was certain I would retire from football. Now some interesting proposals have arrived. I live to take myself out of my comfort zone and accept exciting challenges.” These comments arrive just hours after reports suggested that the Reds were interested in bringing the Juventus legend to Anfield. Loris Karius is currently Jurgen Klopp’s number one, however, reports claim that the Liverpool board are considering bringing Buffon to the club to challenge the German shot-stopper for the jersey.

Juventus have reportedly cooled their interest in Liverpool target Gianluigi Donnarumma , while Chelsea could get their hands on Gareth Bale. AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is no longer a priority in the transfer market for Serie A giants Juventus, according to reports.

AC Milan chief Massimiliano Mirabelli recently said Donnarumma may be allowed to leave.

“We must protect Donnarumma and we’ll protect him to the end.”

He told Mediaset Premium.

“After that, as with all the other players, we’ll see what happens. He is part of the club’s heritage and we wouldn’t let go of him easily, unless of course someone values him the way he must be valued. If a good enough offer arrived, any of our players could be sold. There are far richer clubs out there and we have to choose other paths. Let’s not kid ourselves that we can return to being the Serie A of the past that attracted so many champions. We never will attract them. It’ll be very difficult.”

Liverpool reportedly falling €30m short of Donnarumma valuation .
Liverpool are reportedly unlikely to land AC Milan star Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer, with the Italian club demanding €70 million for their prized asset. The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the Italian international in recent weeks but Milan are desperate to keep hold of the promising goalkeeper this summer. According to reports in Italy, as covered by Calciomercato, the Reds were willing to part with a total of €40 million in their efforts to land Donnarumma as they aim to bolster their goalkeeping options. However, Milan are understood to be refusing all proposals under their valuation of €70m for Donnarumma, who is set to be hot property once again this summer. Liverpool have encountered their fair share of goalkeeping issues in the last two years and this problem prevailed in the Champions League final on Saturday. Loris Karius made two, high-profile errors to gift Real Madrid goals in their 3-1 win over Liverpool in Kiev. Perhaps this encounter could prove to be the catalyst in the Reds stepping up their efforts to land a new goalkeeper.
