The Swiss international is determined to make the move away from Stoke following their relegation down to the Championship last season, with the likes of Saints, Everton and Tottenham having been linked.

Mark Hughes, who was named as Southampton’s permanent first-team manager last month, is understood to be a big admirer of Shaqiri following his performances at Stoke during the Welshman’s stint in charge.
