Tim Lincecum will not be making his MLB comeback this year, at least not with the Rangers.

According to multiple reports, the Rangers will grant the two-time Cy Young winner his unconditional release.

The four-time All-Star signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Rangers before the season and pitched at the Triple-A level this year.

He posted a 5.68 ERA in 10 appearances and a 1.82 WHIP with 14 hits and nine walks allowed in 12 2/3 innings.

The Rangers had to make a decision on Lincecum by Wednesday on whether to call him up or give him his release, since his 30-day rehab assignment in the minors ended Tuesday. They apparently decided on the latter.

Released Liverpool full back Jon Flanagan is set to reunite with former teammate Steven Gerrard with the defender joining up with Rangers, according to the Daily Record. The defender has headed out to the Rangers training camp in Spain to have a medical to finalise his move to the Glasgow side. Flanagan was released from his Liverpool contract at the end of last season after 51 appearances for the Reds. The full back spent time out on loan at Burnley and Bolton Wanderers, but failed to really make an impact under Jurgen Klopp. Flanagan will reunite with Steven Gerrard at Rangers, becoming the legendary Liverpool midfielder’s seventh signing of the Summer. Gerrard left the Liverpool U18 side to join Rangers, who are looking for a first title since returning to the Scottish top flight. James Tavernier will be Flanagan’s positional rival, with the Liverpool born player being brought in to provide competition at right back.
