NHL trade rumors 2018: Karlsson, Kessel top list of possible players on move this summer With rumors running rampant, there appear to be bigger-name options available this summer via trade as opposed to through NHL free agency. The amount of high-quality players rumored to be available via trade is far greater than the list of UFAs where, after John Tavares and John Carlson, there is a significant drop-off in impact stars.

Last Thursday, I talked about the Erik Karlsson and Mike Hoffman trade rumours and now there is even more to share. Before today, we hadn’t really heard much about actual trade proposals for Karlsson , besides a deal involving Cody Glass and some draft picks.

NHL Rumor Roundup: Blackhawks thinking outside the box (and salary cap) in free agency Having missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade, the once-dominant Blackhawks could be poised to make a major move this summer. The Athletic's Craig Custance cited a source speculating the Blackhawks are looking “to add something significant.” He suggested they could pursue Islanders center John Tavares via free agency, but his colleague Scott Powers pointed out their limited salary cap space could make such a move a long shot. Custance also thinks the Blackhawks could get into the bidding for Maple Leafs pending UFA winger James van Riemsdyk.

Karlsson and Hoffman have been teammates since 2011, though the names of both players have constantly come up in trade rumors this offseason. Last week, when appearing on TSN1200, Pierre LeBrun said that, "From what I understand I think there’s a really strong chance that Hoffman gets dealt in the next couple of weeks here."

The Citizenalso reported that there is an active investigation open in the Ottawa police into criminal harassment (stalking) against Caryk.

In a comment to the paper, Hoffman denied the allegations "150 per cent chance."

"There’s nothing really for me to say, at this time. That’s all I can say," Hoffman said.
