  Atletico Madrid join Chelsea in the race to sign Gonzalo Higuain Chelsea will reportedly face competition from Atletico Madrid in their pursuit of Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer. The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for the Argentine international, with his future at Serie A champions Juventus continuing to come under some scrutiny. This has led to talk indicating that he could make a move to Stamford Bridge this summer. However, according to reports in Italy, a new suitor has emerged in the race to land Higuain. Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid side are understood to have identified Higuain as a potential target as they make contingency plans ahead of the likely departure of Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer and it seems plans are being put in place ahead of his exit. Chelsea are looking to recruit a new first-choice striker and Higuain has been mentioned as a target for the Blues following Alvaro Morata’s struggles last season.

Chelsea have announced changes to their pre-season plans.

Chelsea will kick off their pre-season with a friendly in Australia at the brand new Optus Stadium, as they take on Perth Glory on Monday 23rd July before they compete in the International Champions Cup.

The Blues will play three European International Champions Cup fixtures ahead of the 2018/19 campaign in what will be their fifth time competing in the International Champions Cup, but the first time they compete in Europe.

Chelsea will first face Inter Milan at Nice’s Allianz Riviera Stadium on Saturday 28th July.

Antonio Conte’s side will then travel to Dublin to take on Premier League rivals Arsenal at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday 1st August before of course lining up against Manchester City on Sunday 5th August at Wembley in the Community Shield.

Chelsea will then conclude their pre-season by playing host to Ligue 1 side Lyon at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 7th August.

Chelsea had previously announced plans to play International Champions Cup fixtures in Poland and Sweden.

Sampdoria confirm Torreira departure .
Sampdoria have confirmed that Lucas Torreira has left the club for a fee of €30m. The owner of Sampdoria, Massimo Ferrero, has confirmed that Torreira has completed a move elsewhere. Arsenal is expected to be his destination, after reports claiming that Arsenal had agreed a deal for the midfielder. Torreira is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the World Cup in Russia, and will likely complete his move after the tournament. As quoted by Calcio Mercato, Ferrero said this: “Torreira’s gone for €30m.” “I bought him from Pescara when no-one believed in him. We gambled on him and won, paying just €3m for him.” Torreira was a star for Sampdoria in the Serie A last season and was named in the Team of the Season.
