Watford close to beating Everton to Serie A defender

Watford close to beating Everton to Serie A defender Watford are set to beat Everton to the signing of Bologna left-back Adam Masina, according to reports in Italy. The Toffees were linked with a move to hijack Watford’s deal to sign the player earlier on this week but it seems a transfer to Vicarage Road is on the cards for Masina. Everton boss Marco Silva is likely to keep the faith in Leighton Baines as his first-choice left-back next season but it seems the new man is after some cover in the defensive department. Masina is set to sign for Watford in the coming days for a fee worth €8 million along with additional bonuses. The defender, who started 33 Serie A matches for Bologna last season, has attracted plenty of interest in recent times and a move to the Premier League is now on the cards. Everton will be forced to look elsewhere if they are to continue pursuing added depth at left-back, with Masina seemingly Watford-bound.

Everton defender Matty Pennington is flying to Austria on Tuesday evening to complete a loan move to Leeds United. The 22-year-old is set to finalise a switch to the Championship outfit after they beat off interest from Hull to secure his services for the upcoming campaign.

Oxford United want to sign Everton ’s Jonjoe Kenny on loan again according to a report from the Oxford Mail. The 19-year-old defender moved on loan to the U’s in January and helped the club achieve promotion to League 1 in the 20 appearances he made.

Everton defender Brendan Galloway will look for another loan move away from Goodison this summer, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with then-Championship side Sunderland.

However Galloway failed to impress, making just 10 appearances for the North East club and not featuring at all in 2018 following the sacking of Sunderland’s manager Simon Grayson.

Galloway is deperate to kick-start his career and wants another loan move this summer in order to ensure that he gets some regular playing time under his belt.

Galloway, an England youth international, still has two years remaining on his contract with Everton but has not featured at all for the toffees since January 2016.

The young defender also spent the 2016/17 season out on loan at West Brom, however he failed to impress at The Hawthorns too and made just five appearances for the Baggies.

Leicester to battle Everton for World Cup defender .
Everton will face competition from Leicester City in their bid to sign Croatian international Domagoj Vida, according to reports. The Toffees were linked with a move for the versatile defender earlier on in the week and it seems they are not the only Premier League club keen to recruit Vida this summer. Although the player has four years remaining on his current deal at Besiktas, Turkish-Football report that the race for Vida’s signature is heating up, with Leicester having joined Everton in their pursuit of the player. Vida is currently out in Russia with the Croatia squad as they gear up for the knockout stages of the World Cup. The experienced defender has performed well in the tournament so far, doing his chances of a summer move no harm. Despite only signing Vida on a free transfer in January, Besiktas are believed to be open to offloading him this summer in order to make a handsome profit. This will certainly be the case if he continues to flourish for Croatia, as a move to the Premier League becomes an increasingly likely possibility for the powerful defender.
