Fenerbahce join Southampton in the race to sign Paco Alcacer

Fenerbahce join Southampton in the race to sign Paco Alcacer Southampton will face competition from Turkish giants Fenerbahce in their bid to sign Paco Alcacer from Barcelona this summer, according to reports. The Saints are understood to be keen on landing the Spaniard from the La Liga champions in the near future, as Mark Hughes looks to strengthen his attacking options. Alcacer made only 23 appearances for Barcelona last term but was rather effective when called upon, netting seven times in all competitions. Southampton’s goalscoring troubles have been well-documented over the course of the last two seasons and it seems Alcacer has been lined up as a summer target. However, if they are to land the former Valencia striker, it seems they will face stiff competition. According to Turkish news outlet Haberler, Fenerbahce are keen to recruit the player. Having recently appointed Damien Comolli as the club’s new sporting director, the Super Lig side want to reinforce their attacking options and it’s claimed that the new man has identified Alcacer as a perfect fit.

Two years ago, the Saints were linked with a move for the defender but no transfer ended up materialising, with Lazio having been keen to retain the services of their promising youngster.

However, it seems Saints have revived their interest in the player. According to a report from the printed edition of Italian news outlet Il Tempo, as cited and translated by Sport Witness, Mark Hughes’ men have joined the race for Lukaku’s signature.

Newcastle and Southampton make approach to recruit Ligue 1 star .
Newcastle United and Southampton have reportedly stepped up their interest in signing Christopher Jullien from Toulouse this summer. According to claims from Yahoo Sport France, as cited in a report from GFFN, the Magpies have been in contact with the entourage of Jullien as they look to recruit the player. The central defender enjoyed a good season at Toulouse despite his side’s shortcomings, and it’s believed that he’d be keen to secure a move to the Premier League ahead of next season. Jullien, 25, is a physically imposing central defender who developed a strong partnership with Issa Diop at the back for Toulouse. Diop has since joined West Ham in a club-record deal. It seems the acquisition of Jullien will be plausible for Newcastle this summer, but it will not be without competition from elsewhere. Turkish giants Galatasaray have also been linked, but Southampton are understood to be the Magpies’ strongest competition for Jullien. The Saints failed to replace Virgil van Dijk in the January transfer window and are believed to be keen on adding a new central defender this summer.
