Third club enter the race to sign in-demand Newcastle midfielder

Third club enter the race to sign in-demand Newcastle midfielder La Liga side Sevilla have joined the race to sign Mikel Merino from Newcastle this summer. Chronicle Live claim that Sevilla will battle Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad for the player’s services. The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder looks set to leave the Magpies after just one season at the club. Sociedad have already lodged a £10 million bid to sign the Spaniard, but Sevilla see him as a potential central midfield partner for Roque Mesa. Mesa looks set to secure a permanent move to Spain after spending the second half of the season on loan from Swansea. Sevilla would need to match the £10 million that Sociedad have offered to be in with a chance of signing the player. The report claims that it is not of the question that Merino stays at the club beyond the end of the summer transfer window, but with interest mounting, his long-term future appears to be away from Newcastle.

Newcastle have warned they have no plans to sell winger Matt Ritchie – unless they are made an offer they cannot refuse. However, the club would only be prepared to consider a fee which would represent a significant premium on what they paid for the player and, even then, only if they had a

Chelsea are ready to sell Kenedy to Newcastle this summer, but only if the Magpies agree to insert a buy-back clause into the deal.

The Telegraph report that the Brazilian is keen to complete a permanent move to St James’ Park after a successful loan spell at the club last season.

The two clubs have been in talks over a £20 million deal, but Chelsea want to protect themselves.

The Blues have been well known to add in buy-back clauses into a number of sales recently following the departures of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, both of whom have gone on to have successful careers with other English clubs.

After the success that the Belgian duo have enjoyed away from Chelsea, the Blues are keen to ensure the same thing does not happen in the future.

Benitez remains keen on permanent Kenedy deal

Benitez remains keen on permanent Kenedy deal Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is still holding out hope he can secure a permanent deal to sign Kenedy from Chelsea. The Telegraph reports that the Brazilian winger remains firmly in Benitez’s sights after he enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at the club last season. Chelsea are open to selling Kenedy this summer, but interest is likely to mount as other clubs become aware of his availability, something that may price Newcastle out of a deal. Benitez is in the market for a new winger, with Kenedy and Andros Townsend both transfer targets. Scottish international Matt Ritchie is attracting interest from Stoke and Middlesbrough, which could raise enough funds to secure a deal for either of the aforementioned targets. During his time at the club, Kenedy became a hit with the fans at St James’ Park for his pace and trickery on the ball. He went on to play a key role in helping the Magpies avoid relegation back to the Championship.

Ultimately, though, money talks and particularly at Newcastle where Benítez faces another summer of running battles with owner Mike Ashley over budget. If the North East outfit receive a big offer – even for one of their key players – they’re likely to sell . But in Ritchie’s case the club would be releasing a

— Chelsea FC Fan Club (@ConteBlueArmy) June 30, 2018. According to Telegraph, Newcastle bosses would hope to raise an extra £20m by selling striker Alexandar 2. I think it’s best for him to go . He’s been a sub for 4 years now he deserves a full game time which will never happen at Chelsea.

Both Nathan Ake and Nathaniel Chalobah reportedly had buy-back clauses included in the deals that saw them move away from Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis.

Whilst Chelsea may not see a future at Stamford Bridge for Kenedy, they want to protect themselves from any further embarrassment in the transfer market.

Newcastle will only push to sign winger on one condition .
Newcastle United will only pursue a reunion with Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend if Matt Ritchie completes a move to Stoke. Chronicle Live report that a deal will only go through if the Potters step up their interest in the Scottish winger. Ritchie is being heavily linked with a move away from St James’ Park, but Rafa Benitez is in no hurry to sell the former Bournemouth winger. The club have already reportedly rejected one £15 million offer for the player, with Newcastle’s asking price believed to be closer to £20 million. Should Ritchie complete a move to Stoke, his departure would free up the position and necessary funds that would allow Newcastle to move for Townsend. Townsend has been linked with a return to the club from the moment he originally left for Palace.
