Kamara: Shaqiri 'would perform' at Liverpool Former Stoke City player and pundit Chris Kamara has lavished praise on Xherdan Shaqiri ahead of a potential move to Liverpool this summer, as per a report from the Daily Star. The Swiss winger has a £12m relegation release clause in his current Stoke contract after being relegated to the Championship with them last season. Jurgen Klopp’s side missed out on a deal to sign Lyon’s Nabil Fekir in recent times after the move for the Frenchman collapsed, and they are now on the lookout for new reinforcements. Shaqiri is currently at the World Cup with Switzerland and is likely to resolve his future when his country exit the competition. The Sky Sports pundit, who also played for Stoke in a two-year spell from 1978 until 1980 feels that if the Reds can pull the move off, it could be a really strong signing for Klopp’s side. Kamara spoke about the quality of Shaqiri and just how good a signing he would be if he was to complete a move to Anfield: “Shaqiri is a brilliant player, absolutely fantastic. If Stoke manage to keep him in the Championship then that would be a miracle because he’s top class.” “He would perform in a Liverpool team, that’s for sure. There is always room [in the team] for top-class players.

Stoke are reportedly considering asking Liverpool for a player on loan in return as part of any deal to take Xherdan Shaqiri to Anfield.

The Mirror reports that Gary Rowett is still looking to add to his squad this summer and could utilise Liverpool’s interest in the Swiss winger.

Rowett will be in the market for a replacement for Shaqiri, which could see them try and bring in Harry Wilson, who is a target for a wealth of Championship clubs.

The report does not state specifically who Stoke would be looking to land, but you can imagine Wilson is one of the names likely to be discussed.

Other players who look set to leave Liverpool include the likes of Danny Ward, Ben Woodburn and Danny Ings, but it is unlikely the latter would want to drop into the Championship.

Shaqiri is being heavily tipped to make a move to Anfield this summer with Jurgen Klopp keen to add depth to his squad.

Stoke make fresh bid to sign Harry Wilson on loan .
Stoke have made a last-ditch effort to try and beat Derby County to the signature of Harry Wilson. John Percy of the Telegraph confirms that the Potters have made a fresh bid to try and win the race to sign the Liverpool youngster on loan. Percy reports that as it stands, Frank Lampard’s Derby County are poised to sign the player on loan, with a host of clubs interested in a deal. There had been suggestions that Wilson would head to Stoke on loan as part of the deal that saw the Reds sign Xherdan Shaqiri, but Lampard held talks with the player over the weekend. The Potters remain keen to sign a Liverpool player on loan as part of the Shaqiri deal, but it is yet to be seen if that will be Wilson. The player recently returned to Liverpool as part of their pre-season preparations and has impressed in their opening friendlies.
