Liverpool miss out on Meyer deal due to wage demands

Liverpool miss out on Meyer deal due to wage demands Liverpool and Arsenal have turned the chance to sign long-term target Max Meyer on a free transfer this summer due to the player’s high wage demands. According to Get German Football News, the player is now in talks to sign for Marseille after falling out of favour at Schalke. Meyer was widely expected to leave the Bundesliga after a reported fall-out with manager Domenico Tedesco. The report claims that there was also interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid in Spain and fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, but the player now looks set for a move to France. Meyer has long been linked with a move to Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp said to be an admirer of the player. Speculation continued when it became known that he would be available on a free transfer, but Liverpool appeared to have now ended their interest in a deal. The German international enjoyed a strong season at Schalke, with Tedesco bringing the best out of the player in a deeper midfield position, but relationships at the club have soured.

Dimitri Payet has said he left West Ham United in January because he was bored with playing for Slaven Bilic’s team in the lower half of the Premier League table. The France international joined Marseille for £25m after citing family problems as the reason he wanted to return to his former club

West Ham would be keen to re-sign Dimitri Payet from Marseille, according to the Mirror, but only if the Frenchman agrees to lower his wage demands.

It was reported earlier on today that the Hammers will be given the opportunity to sign Payet back from Marseille this summer, with the player understood to be open to a return to the Premier League.

Payet left the London Stadium in somewhat acrimonious circumstances in the January transfer window last year, but it seems he would be willing to play for the club for a second time.

The experienced playmaker is understood to be on high wages at Marseille and unless he opts to take a pay-cut in his bid to return to West Ham, it seems a move will not be feasible.

West Ham interested in Everton's Bolasie

West Ham interested in Everton's Bolasie West Ham are among the clubs considering a move for out-of-favour Everton winger Yannick Bolasie. The Guardian reports that the player is expected to move on from Goodison Park this summer and West Ham are said to be keen. The Hammers were heavily linked with the player when it became known he was leaving Crystal Palace. West Ham and Spurs were both keen to sign the player then, but he opted to join Everton. However, this time around, there is also thought to be interest from Turkey with Fenerbahce linked with a move for the player. Bolasie’s time at Everton has not gone as he would have hoped. Injuries have seen him become a peripheral figure at the club and they now look set to cut their losses. Marco Silva is ready to wield the axe on the current Everton squad, selling fringe players and trimming the club’s wage bill in what looks set to be a busy summer transfer window.

Dimitri Payet has completed his £25m move to Marseille from West Ham United, signing a four-and-a-half year contract with the Ligue 1 club. It became a question of West Ham getting what they could for him in terms of the fee and they wanted at least £30m.

Payet was a talismanic figure for West Ham under Slaven Bilic but after leaving the London club on difficult terms with the supporters, it’d be hard to see the East London faithful forgiving and forgetting the player’s past antics.

Arsenal could land bargain transfer if player reduces his wage demands .
Arsenal could still sign German international Max Meyer this summer if he reduces his wage demands. The Mirror, who cite, Transfermarketweb, reports that Meyer is demanding around £4 million per year, which is just shy of £80,000 a week. Despite that, Unai Emery is said to be considering a move, providing he lowers his demands. Meyer has been heavily linked with moves to Arsenal and Liverpool in the past and is now a free agent. The player’s contract at Schalke expired recently, leaving the player pondering his next move after deciding not to renew with the Bundesliga side. Hoffenheim have also been linked with the player, while there is also thought to be interest from teams in France. Meyer enjoyed an impressive season under Domenico Tedesco, playing a deeper role in the midfield, but problems off the pitch saw the player leave the club on bad terms. The 22-year-old was once highly thought in Germany but is yet to really fulfil his potential.
