France v Denmark: Match Preview

France v Denmark: Match Preview Group C favourites France and dark-horses Denmark clash in a game where both teams need points to fulfil their own objectives. While the French need a point to secure their top spot, the Danes also need just a stalemate to make sure of their qualification. A defeat would leave Age Hareide’s men relying on Peru to losing against Australia. Les Bleus have been underwhelming so far, to say the least. Their performances against Australia and Peru illustrated us to the fact that they need to work harder to be superior in the knockout stages. They have produced moments of brilliance individually or collectively but have failed to put it together on a consistent basis. Denmark, on the other hand, began well against Peru with Kasper Schmeichel making crucial saves to secure their 1-0 win. There were worrying signs though in their second match against Australia. After taking an early lead, the Danes allowed their opposition to come back in the game and take control. Defensively, Hareide’s men look strong but they need to do more in transition and ball-retention higher up the pitch. They have to make sure none of those lapses occur against a proficient French side. Team news: France: Didier Deschamps is yet to find a perfect starting lineup and would look to make few changes. Nabil Fekir, Djibril Sidibe, Presnel Kimpembe and Ousmane Dembele are the possible inclusions for this match.

Belgium face France in St Petersburg for a place in the World Cup final, it is the first time since Mexico 1986 that the Red Devils have reached the last four.

Roberto Martinez has deployed a 3-4-3 formation for the majority of his time in charge but changed to a 4-3-3 to counter the Braziianl attack, it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard reverts back to a 3-4-3 or maintains momentum by keeping with four at the back.

One thing is for sure, however, is that PSG full back Thomas Meunier is suspended for the clash with France after picking up a second booking of the competition in the win over Brazil.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Belgium so here’s how I expect them to line up against France:

Roberto Firmino to miss US tour .
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool will be without Roberto Firmino for their pre-season tour of America. Speaking to the club’s official website, Klopp revealed that the Brazilian forward will meet up with the rest of the squad in France. “Bobby will be in for the second camp.” Firmino will be a late arrival after his run to the quarter-finals of the World Cup with Brazil. He impressed when called upon for Brazil, despite not being able to hold down a regular starting place in Russia. Klopp’s men are preparing to fly out to America to participate in the International Champions Cup. The Reds have games scheduled against Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United before the new Premier League season kicks off. The rest of the squad, including the likes of Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson, are expected to return to training the following week.
