Chelsea look to hijack Man City's move for Jorginho

Chelsea look to hijack Man City's move for Jorginho Chelsea have made ‘a late bid’ to hijack Jorginhos move to Premier League rivals Manchester City, according to reports. Jorginho has already agreed personal terms with Man City and is apparently keen to make a switch to the Etihad, but no fee has been agreed between Napoli and the Premier League champions at this time. Chelsea have reportedly made a late swoop to sign the Italian international and with Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri set to be named as the club’s new manager this week, they are hoping that the 26-year-old will decide that a move to Stamford Bridge is the better option for him at this stage of his career.

Napoli midfielder Jorginho has reportedly promised to join Chelsea this summer, with the Blues set to beat Manchester City to his signature.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Napoli player will be included as part of the deal to take Maurizio Sarri to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay a combined €65 million, with €8 million of that being made up through bonuses to land Jorginho and Sarri.

Both Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with a move for Jorginho this summer, but Pep Guardiola’s men were looking set to sign the player.

City make enquiry for Chelsea target Mateo Kovacic

City make enquiry for Chelsea target Mateo Kovacic Premier League rivals Manchester City have joined Chelsea by making an enquiry to Real Madrid over a deal to sign Mateo Kovacic. The Mirror reports that City are considering a move for Kovacic in case a deal to sign Jorginho from Napoli falls through. Pep Guardiola’s men are putting plans in place as they brace themselves for late interest from Chelsea for Jorginho. There have been some suggestions that Chelsea and Napoli could negotiate a deal for Jorginho in a bid to make up the numbers in the former’s pursuit of Maurizio Sarri. Kovacic, who is preparing to face England in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday night, is looking to leave Real Madrid this summer. The Croatian fell out of favour at the Bernabeu last season and is looking for regular game time elsewhere. Chelsea had earmarked the player as a potential target for Sarri, but both club’s interest in Jorginho could be the deciding factor.

Jorginho helping Chelsea squad to adapt to Sarri's playing style .
Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso says that new Blues signing Jorginho is helping the squad to adapt to new boss Maurizio Sarri’s playing style, the Evening Standard reports. Having played under Sarri for three years at Napoli, Jorginho is using his experience and knowledge of Sarri’s team set up to help and advise the rest of the Chelsea squad. Blues defender Alonso spoke of Jorginho’s help to the club’s website. “He is used to playing this way, and he is going to be a great help for everybody. He is giving us tips to get used to this way of playing.” “We are working on a new formation, a new style that he is asking of us. He wants us to press high, he wants the team to be together, to have possession of the ball.” Jorginho signed for Chelsea shortly after Sarri’s confirmed arrival as the new Blues boss, making his first outing in a Chelsea shirt in Monday’s 1-0 pre-season win over Perth Glory. Jorginho impressed during his 45 minutes on the field alongside fellow midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley. Sarri’s Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign away at Huddersfield Town.
