West Ham linked with deal for Iago Falque

West Ham linked with deal for Iago Falque West Ham have been linked with a move for former Tottenham midfielder Iago Falque. Reports in Italy say that the Hammers along with Leicester and Southampton are all keeping tabs on the Spaniard, who has made a career in Italy after flopping with Tottenham in England. Tuttosport report that the sides are taking a look at Falque, but Torino are unlikely to want to sell one of their key players. If a big enough bid is received Torino could be forced to sell Falque, but as of yet no asking price is known for the Spaniard. Falque left Spurs for Italy in 2014, joining Genoa. He would then move on to Roma before joining Torino in 2016 originally on loan before making his move permanent in 2017. The Spaniard scored twelve goals in over 37 appearances for Torino last season in Serie A, and was a key player as his side narrowly missed out on the Europa League.

Iago Falque made only one appearance for Southampton during his loan spell at the club in the 2011/12 season in the Championship.

The Spaniard joined on a short-term basis from Tottenham Hotspur but failed to really convince anyone of his talents, as he became something of a forgotten man after the club’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City.

Nevertheless, he has since gone on to enjoy relative success in Italy, performing consistently in Serie A. Several Premier League clubs have since been linked with the creative midfielder and according to Italian news outlet Tuttosport, Southampton are among the interested parties.

West Ham target Marlon set for Southampton move

West Ham target Marlon set for Southampton move West Ham look set to miss out on the signature of Barcelona defender Marlon Santos, with the Brazilian defender set to join Southampton, according to Diario SPORT. The Saints are chasing the signature of a new central defender this summer and if reports from Spain are to be believed, the club have pipped West Ham to the acquisition of Marlon. The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian as Manuel Pellegrini continues to reshape the club’s backline. Having enjoyed an impressive season on loan at OGC Nice, the defender is set to be offloaded by Barcelona and it seems Southampton will be the centre-back’s next destination. Marlon is reportedly set to join Southampton for a sum worth €12 million, along with additional bonuses. The player’s representatives have long been pushing for a move away from Camp Nou after Marlon found first-team opportunities with the Catalan club extremely hard to come by.

Falque, who is now 28-years-old, is currently plying his trade with Torino and enjoyed a strong season at the club recently. He netted 14 goals in all competitions and also contributed with 10 assists.

West Ham and Leicester City are also named by Tuttosport as potential destinations for Falque, but it would certainly be an unusual acquisition from Southampton should their interest be genuine.

Saints open to offers for Fraser Forster .
Southampton are reportedly open to offers for goalkeeper Fraser Forster after the stopper lost his place in the first team, according to Sky Sports News. Forster was Saints number one, before being dropped on boxing day by former boss Mauricio Pellegrino. Forster has failed to make another appearance for Southampton since. Saints have been linked with a move for Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who impressed last season whilst on loan at Norwich, a club where Forster also spent time when he was a youngster at Newcastle. Mark Hughes did not restore Forster to the side, instead, sticking with Alex McCarthy, who did impress between the sticks as the Saints narrowly secured Premier League survival. McCarthy was handed a new four-year deal at Southampton, with Mark Hughes showing his intent to keep the goalkeeper for the foreseeable future. Forster’s stay at Southampton could come to an end, with his future looking likely elsewhere.
