Newcastle and Fulham eye swoop for €30m Ligue 1 star

Newcastle and Fulham eye swoop for €30m Ligue 1 star Newcastle United are reportedly one of several Premier League clubs who are chasing a deal for OGC Nice forward Alassane Plea this summer. The Magpies have been linked for some time now and according to claims from Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, they are in a four-team race for Plea’s signature ahead of next season. Twitter: Told West Ham, Newcastle, Fulham and Spurs trying to sign Nice forward Alassane Pléa. Scored 20 goals last season. Nice want €30m. (@SkyKaveh) It’s claimed that Newcastle will be forced to part with a club-record fee of €30m if they are to lure Plea away from Nice, as a summer departure from France appears to be on the cards. Plea enjoyed a strong season under Lucien Favre last term, putting his previous injury woes behind him to net an impressive total of 20 goals in all competitions. Newcastle will face competition from elsewhere if they are to land Plea, though, as three other Premier League clubs plan respective moves for the player. West Ham, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur are also linked with a deal.

West Ham have been linked with a move for former Tottenham midfielder Iago Falque.

Reports in Italy say that the Hammers along with Leicester and Southampton are all keeping tabs on the Spaniard, who has made a career in Italy after flopping with Tottenham in England.

Tuttosport report that the sides are taking a look at Falque, but Torino are unlikely to want to sell one of their key players.

If a big enough bid is received Torino could be forced to sell Falque, but as of yet no asking price is known for the Spaniard.

Falque left Spurs for Italy in 2014, joining Genoa. He would then move on to Roma before joining Torino in 2016 originally on loan before making his move permanent in 2017.

West Brom linked with a fresh move for Sam Johnstone

West Brom linked with a fresh move for Sam Johnstone West Brom have reportedly revived their interest in a deal to sign Sam Johnstone from Manchester United this summer. The Baggies have been linked with moves for Johnstone in the last two transfer windows and according to claims from the Daily Mail, they will look to land the shot-stopper once again this month. Johnstone spent the duration of last season on loan at the Baggies’ rivals, Aston Villa. However, due to the Championship club’s financial struggles, a permanent deal for the goalkeeper is unlikely. The 25-year-old is set to be offloaded by Manchester United this summer, with the club already well-stocked in the goalkeeping department. It’s believed by the Daily Mail that Johnstone currently has a price tag on his head worth only £5 million, which could be a cut-price deal that interests Darren Moore. Watford want to sign Ben Foster from West Brom this summer and it seems if a deal is tied up with the Hornets, the Baggies will chase Johnstone.

Palace to rival Newcastle and West Ham in Mendes deal .
Crystal Palace are rivalling West Ham, Newcastle and Huddersfield in the race to sign Thiago Mendes from Ligue 1 side, Lille this summer. The Times reports that all the clubs are keen to sign the 26-year-old, but the Hammers have enquired about a deal as they look to steal a march on their rivals. The midfielder is valued at close to £18 million with Manuel Pellegrini looking to continue his summer transfer business. A host of Lille players have been linked with moves away from the club this summer after their struggles both on and off the pitch last season. Mendes is also attracting interest from elsewhere in Europe, with both Lazio and Wolfsburg keen to snap up the midfielder. Roy Hodgson has made it known that he is working on a small transfer budget this summer, so it is yet to be seen whether or not they would need to sell before they could entertain a deal for Mendes.
