Wilfried Zaha rejects huge new Crystal Palace contract

Wilfried Zaha rejects huge new Crystal Palace contract Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has reportedly rejected a new £125,000-per-week contract to keep him at Selhurst Park, the Mirror report. The new deal would’ve made Zaha Palace’s top earner, however, it is believed that the forward’s desire to play in the Champions League stopped him putting pen to paper over a new contract. The 25-year-old played a key role in guiding the Eagles to safety last year, and the Premier League Player of the Month for April is closely being followed by Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as they prepare an offer for the Ivory Coast international. Tottenham were linked with a move for Zaha in January, with Palace valuing their forward who found the back of the net nine times last season at around £60 million. Zaha’s current £100,000-per-week Palace deal runs until the summer of 2022, so Tottenham will need to place a bid close to the Eagles’ valuation if they are to sign the forward this summer.

Premier League star wants Spurs move with Everton and Liverpool set to miss out .
Everton and Liverpool target Wilfried Zaha wants to join Tottenham this summer after rejecting an improved contract offer at Crystal Palace. The Times reports that the player has been alarmed by comments made by manager Roy Hodgson about the club’s playing budget for the new season. Hodgson admitted that he had been told to focus on avoiding relegation once again this season, all whilst working on a small budget. The club have tried to convince him to stay with a new £125,000-a-week contract, but Zaha is refusing to sign and now has his eyes on a move to Spurs. Palace value Zaha at close to £70 million, a price that Tottenham are not willing to match. Everton and Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the player, with the Toffees reportedly willing to offer Palace the chance to re-sign Yannick Bolasie as part of a deal. Zaha was Palace’s top performer last season by some distance and played a key role in keeping Hodgson’s side in the Premier League.
