Aarons was largely frozen out by Rafa Benitez at St James’ Park last season and this saw him secure a January loan move away from the club. The 22-year-old arrived at Serie A club Hellas Verona for the second-half of the season and it seems he could be set for a summer move.

Newcastle discussing deal for West Brom striker Salomon Rondon

Newcastle discussing deal for West Brom striker Salomon Rondon Newcastle United have held talks over a possible deal to sign Salomon Rondon from West Brom. The Northern Echo reports that the Baggies forward is considered as a ‘Plan B’ this summer. Newcastle are currently pursuing a deal for Nice forward Alassane Plea, but they may be forced to turn their attention to Rondon if they’re unable to strike a deal. Plea impressed in Ligue 1 last season, but Newcastle will have to fight off interest from the Bundesliga and also Premier League rivals Tottenham and West Ham. Rondon has a £16.5 million release clause inserted into his current West Brom deal and he is widely expected to leave the club this summer. There are some concerns from the Premier League side about the player’s wage demands and the overall cost of a potential deal.

Baggies consider Britt Assombalonga as Rondon replacement .
West Brom have reportedly shortlisted Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga as a possible transfer target this summer. TEAMtalk claims that the striker, who is no longer wanted at Middlesbrough, has emerged as a transfer target for the Baggies. Assombalonga is being viewed as a direct replacement for Salomon Rondon, who is being heavily linked with a move to Newcastle. Rondon is expected to leave the Hawthorns this summer due to a £16.5 million relegation release clause in his contract. Assombalonga was a big-money signing at Middlesbrough, but he has been unable to recreate some of the form he displayed at Nottingham Forest. Matt Phillips has been attracting interest from Middlesbrough and there are some suggestions that the striker could be included in a deal for Tony Pulis to sign the Scottish winger. There is also believed to be some interest from Newcastle, with Rafa Benitez looking to strengthen his squad this summer.
