Emery though, is unfazed, and is instead ready to turn his attention to Colombian winger Cuadrado, who has impressed at the ongoing World Cup. Cuadrado has two years left on his current deal with Juventus, and with the Biaconeri having shelved talks on a new contract until after the World Cup, Arsenal could look to swoop in should those talks stall. Juventus midfielder emerges as a target for Arsenal .
Arsenal have been linked with a surprise swoop for Juventus star Rodrigo Bentancur. The midfielder enjoyed a strong season in Italy and also shone at the World Cup this summer as he helped his native Uruguay to reach the quarter-final stage of the competition. Bentancur was reportedly eyed by Arsenal prior to his big move to Juventus and according to fresh claims from the Italian media, he has emerged as a target for the Gunners once again. Unai Emery and his recruitment team have already made significant efforts to bolster the team’s midfield, notably through the acquisition of Bentancur’s international teammate Lucas Torreira. However, it’s believed by Gazzetta (via Calciomercato) that the 21-year-old is a target for both Arsenal and Barcelona this summer. Bentancur has established himself as one of the most promising midfield players in European football and, understandably so, it is reported that Juventus would not be willing to sanction the sale of their midfielder. However, it seems Arsenal do have a long-standing interest in the youngster, and could yet make a move in the not so distant future.
