Newcastle interested in Italian midfielder

Newcastle interested in Italian midfielder Newcastle have been linked with a potential switch for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro, according to reports in Italy. Goal Italia report that Rafa Benitez is an admirer of Sturaro, with the Spaniard looking to bring the Italian midfielder to St James Park this Summer. Juventus are likely to sell the midfielder, with many clubs such as Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt also looking at Sturaro. Juiventus are apparently seeking over €20 million for the midfielder, with Newcastle aiming to pay only €14 million for the Italian’s services. However, with Juventus looking to sell Sturaro, a deal is very likely to be agreed with one of the players’ many suitors. According to Football Italia, who cite Tuttomercatoweb, the Toffees are closing in on a deal worth €6million (£5.3million) for the 27-year old after negotiations stepped up considerably today.

The Italy international spent last season away from the San Siro on loan with former club Genoa, having seen his Milan career peter out following a series of injuries and periods of poor form after his switch from Roma in 2015.

Roma line up replacement for Everton linked midfielder .
Roma are ready to move for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, in order to replace likely outgoing midfielder and Everton target Maxime Gonalons. Despite having only signed for the Serie A club last summer after eight years with Lyon, Gonalons has been subject to interest from the Premier League this month, with Crystal Palace and Everton particularly interested. The Eagles have even already made a move, according to reports, with Calciomercato claiming yesterday that the South London club had offered €12million for the 29-year old France international. Now Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by Calciomercato, have seemingly offered Palace fans hope that a deal could now further progress, with Roma lining up the defensive midfielder’s replacement. Everton are reportedly in the market for defensive midfield reinforcements this summer, and for such a low price, could yet rival Palace for Gonalons’ signature. Gonalons made 16 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi last season, assisting once while failing to open his goalscoring account.
