Defrel, though, is also being courted by Genoa, and West Ham will be faced with plenty of competition if they are to pursue a deal for the attacker.

It would be an unusual move for West Ham given their recent signing of Ryan Fredericks from Fulham, with the Englishman also a right-back.

However, it seems interest is building with regards to a deal for Piccini this summer. It’s claimed that Besiktas have made a concrete approach for the player, whilst Inter Milan are also keen.

If West Ham are indeed serious in their interest in signing Piccini, it seems they’ll need to act fast to fend off competition from across Europe.

Obiang closing in on Sampdoria move .
West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang is closing in on a move to Serie A side Sampdoria. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Obiang is close to sealing a switch back to Italy. Obiang has been linked with a move away from West Ham throughout the summer and now looks set to secure a transfer. The 27-year-old joined West Ham in 2015 from Sampdoria and has made 87 appearances for The Hammers in that time. He made 139 appearances for Sampdoria after breaking through their academy in 2010. Manuel Pellegrini has brought in Jack Wilshere to compete in midfield, leaving Obiang surplus to requirements. There is no mention of a fee for Obiang, who joined West Ham for an undisclosed fee from Sampdoria three years ago. The former Spanish youth international made 21 Premier League appearances last term and has never been able to fully prove himself at that level.
