However, Marco Silva is now looking to put his own stamp on the Everton and the deal to sell Rooney frees up valuable wages that can be used in further transfer business.

Everton star Wayne Rooney has revealed that there is one regret when he left the Toffees to join Manchester United back in 2004. The Englishman will certainly not regret how his career panned out but sometimes there are some things that play on your mind.

Wayne Rooney has gone into more depth regarding his Everton departure this summer for MLS outfit DC United.

Having only rejoined Everton last summer after 13 years away at Manchester United, the 32-year old departed Goodison Park once again this summer to link up with Washington D.C. based DC United.

Initially, the former England captain claimed that his reasons for leaving the club would be revealed in time, and now he has broken down the situation over his departure.

Speaking to ESPN, Rooney had this to say on leaving Merseyside:

The signing is a marquee addition for DC United, who will be hoping that Rooney can utilise his ability and experience to provide them with an added attacking spark next season. Rooney joined Everton on a two-year deal last summer, meaning that he exits Merseyside with only a year remaining on his existing deal. The fee for the transfer is currently unknown but reports recently indicated that Everton had accepted a bid worth in the region of £12 million for the experienced attacker.
